Only intended for use within the BMW Dealer Organisation.
The lamp trim pieces may only be installed by a specialised workshop equipped with the necessary special tools and the required manuals (maintenance, repair, diagnosis etc.).
All work is shown on the left vehicle side and must be carried out identically on the right side.
The lamp trim is offered in two versions: — chrome-plated — painted in vehicle colour (supplied primed in black)
! The primed lamp trim must be completely mounted before painting.
! The 2 mm Allen key provided must be added to the onboard tool kit.
! The installation and removal of the lamp trim must be demonstrated to the vehicle owner when turning over the vehicle.
The item numbers only refer to the exploded views or to the texts in the related illustration.
! The painting notes in the BMW Painting Manual must be observed. The lamp trim is supplied primed and must be pre-treated accordingly.

! Clean the gluing surfaces around the headlamps.
Unscrew the sheet-metal screws with the 8 mm washer (30). Pull the CD seal (31) out of the three retaining clips (32) toward the front. Push the outer left (3) and inner left (4) angle brackets between the CD seal (31) and the headlamps (33). Lay the outer left (3) and the inner left (4) angle bracket in the outer (34) and inner (35) recess of the headlamp (33) and align. Screw in the sheet-metal screws with the 8 mm washer (30) again. Press the CD seal (31) into the three retaining clips (32) again.
! Make sure that the outer left (3) and inner left (4) angle brackets are aligned in the outer (34) and inner (35) recesses.

! Primed lamp trim must be completely mounted before painting.
Adjust the left headlamp trim (1) to the left headlamp (30) and screw loosely (do not tighten) onto the outer left (3) and inner left (4) angle bracket with the two M3x5 oval-head Allen screws (7).
! During the adjustment work the bonnet must be closed several times to check the gap between the lamp trim and the bonnet.
Align the lamp trim on the left headlamp (1) and mark the corner (32) with a fine water-soluble marker (31). Position the template for the upper left corner (9), as shown in the illustration, and mark the upper left corner (33) with a fine water-soluble marker (31). Position the template for the lower left corner (11), as shown in the illustration, and mark the lower left corner (34) with a fine water-soluble marker (31).

Clean the gluing surfaces around the headlamps.
! Primed lamp trim must be completely mounted before painting.
Pull the four protective foils (30) off the adhesive strips on the holders of the left headlamp trim (1). Carefully align the left headlamp trim (1) at the marked corners (31) on the left headlamp (32) and press on firmly. Tighten the two M3x5 oval-head screws (5) with the 2 mm Allen key.
! Now unscrew the primed lamp trim and paint. Then screw on the painted lamp trim again.
Final work when installing the front lamp trim
Remove the marking lines. Check the headlamp adjustment.

Align the tail lamp trim for the left side panel (20) on the tail lamp on the left side panel (30) and mark the corners (32) with a fine water-soluble marker (31).

Clean the gluing surfaces around and on the tail lamps.
! Primed lamp trim must be completely mounted before painting.
! Apply primer to the surfaces shown in grey (24) and allow to dry.
Pull the seven protective foils (30) off the adhesive strips on the holders on the tail lamp trim for the left side panel (20) and carefully align the tail lamp trim for the left side panel (20) at the marked corners (31) on the tail lamp on the left side panel (32) and press on firmly.

Align the tail lamp trim for the left side panel (21) on the tail lamp on the left side panel (30) and mark the corners (32) with a fine water-soluble marker (31).
! Open the upper tailgate if necessary.

! Primed lamp trim must be completely mounted before painting.
! Apply primer (24) to the marked surfaces (30) and allow to dry.
Pull the six protective foils (31) off the adhesive strips on the holders on the tail lamp trim for the left tailgate side (21). Carefully align the tail lamp trim for the left tailgate side (21) at the marked corners (32) on the left tail lamp on the tailgate and press on firmly.
! Now unscrew the primed lamp trim and pain. Then screw on the painted lamp trim again.
Final work when installing the rear lamp trim
Clean the primer surfaces. Remove the marking lines. Check the tail lamp adjustment.
