Council clarified that they would like administration to meet with the Municipal Advisor from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing regarding collection of tax arrears.

Report attached. P C Halonen updated Council on the meeting of February 16, 2005 with representatives from the MNR regarding the Camp Lots.

WHEREAS March has been proclaimed as “Youth Science Month” by Youth Science Foundation Canada, in celebration of the 500,000 students across our nation participating in local and regional science and technology fairs this month; and WHEREAS 250,000 of those students are here in Ontario, taking part in dozens of local fairs and 30 regional fairs; and WHEREAS the best of these participants will champion Ontario at the Canada-wide Science Fair to be held this May in Vancouver, BC; and WHEREAS all of those students have worked diligently to produce projects that demonstrate innovation, initiative and imagination; and WHEREAS it is in the best interest of young people to acquire knowledge and skills in science and technology in order to better understand the world and to further their educations and future career prospects; and WHEREAS it is in the best interests of our society and our economy ot support the creation of an innovation culture and the nurturing of a generation of scientifically literate young people who will push forward the boundaries of our knowledge and improve the quality of our lives in the future; and WHEREAS all Canadians should be supporting and celebrating our young scientists; NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Township of Schreiber hereby proclaims March 2005 as Youth Science Month in Ontario

1. Humane Society Letter

Letter attached. The Humane Society does not deal with feral cats.

2. KCCCC Update

The daycare has received the Articles of Incorporation. The rollover from the Township to the non-profit board will be March 15, 2005.

3. CSI Update

Page 5 of 7 The schedule for the Minnie McCuaig bonspiel has been changed to September 1-4, 2005. To date there have been ten teams that have registered.

3. OGRA/ROMA Conference Report

D McArthur updated Council on his meetings with Minister Ramsay, Ministry of Natural Resources, Minister Dombrowski, Ministry of the Environment, and Minister Bentley, Ministry of Labour.

4. Neenah Paper Update

The announcement of the loss of 130 positions at the Terrace Bay mill and its impact on the community was discussed. Council directed administration to contact HRSDC regarding what action is required to implement a community adjustment committee. D McArthur will be contacting Michael Gravelle, MPP and Joe Comuzzi, MP to discuss this issue.

5. Question Period

L Huard suggested that question period be on the agenda for either Council meetings or Committee of the Whole meetings not on both agendas. No action at this time will be taken to change the existing format of meetings.
