March 9th at Spokane Chiefs THE FINISH LINE: The Kamloops Blazers franchise is in their 35th season in the and the 32nd season as the Kamloops Blazers. The Blazers are fourth in the B.C. Division and sixth in the Western Conference with a 33-25-5-4 record this season. The Blazers have won four straight games including 6-2 in Tri-City last night. Connor Ingram was named the CHL of the week after he went 3-0-0-0 with a 1.69 goals against average, and a ,969 save percentage. The Blazers play in Kelowna on Friday night and home to Vancouver on Saturday. The Blazers conclude this season with a home-and-home next weekend with the Prince George Cougars.

THE MATCH UP: The Blazers and Chiefs are playing for the final time this season. The Blazers have won all three games, 5-1 in Spokane back in October, 5-4 in overtime in November and 5-0 in Kamloops a week ago. The Chiefs are six points behind the Blazers and are holding down eighth place in the WHL’s Western Conference.

ROSTER BREAKDOWN: The Blazers roster currently sits at 24 players (3 , 7 defensemen and 14 forwards). The roster includes 13 players selected in the WHL Bantam Draft, seven players via trade, three players from the free agent list, and one player selected from the CHL Import Draft. The roster breakdown by region includes 10 players from B.C., four from Alberta, five from Saskatchewan, two from Manitoba, one from USA, and two from Czech Republic. There are 16 WHL veterans on the roster and seven WHL rookies.

BY THE NUMBERS: Matt Needham is the Blazers longest tenured player first suiting up for the hockey club during the 2010-11 season and played his 300th career WHL game on February 6th vs. Edmonton Oil Kings. Needham (159 assists) is 18th in Blazers history. Ryan Rehill is 14th all-time on the Blazers penalty minute list with 504 career minutes… Matt Needham recorded his 150th career assist on January 29th vs. Vancouver… Collin Shirley played his 250th career WHL game on January 29th vs. Vancouver… Quinn Benjafield played in his 100th career WHL game January 29th vs. Vancouver… Connor Ingram is the 11th goaltender in franchise history to play 100 games with the Blazers.

KAMLOOPS BLAZERS ‘Who to Watch’: The Kamloops Blazers forwards are led by veteran players Matt Needham (23-38--61), Deven Sideroff (18-36--54), Collin Shirley (34-40--74), Gage Quinney (27-28--55), and Matt Revel (21-29--50). Quinney was acquired from the in October. Needham, Shirley and Revel are all players entering their fourth or fifth seasons in the WHL. 19-year-old import forward Jiri Smejkal (5-22--27) was acquired from the Moose Jaw Warriors for some secondary scoring. Nick Chyzowski (14-10-- 24) is in his third WHL season and has provided secondary scoring in a more prominent role. Jake Kryski (12-25--37) and Quinn Benjafield (9-14--23) are two 17-year-olds’ both in their second seasons. They have proved to be regular contributors. Matt Campese (8-4- -12) has stepped into a larger role this season moving up and down the line-up. Jermaine Loewen (8-6--14) still has time to grow and develop, and has provided a big physical presence on the ice. Garrett Pilon (15-25--40), Spencer Bast (3-8--11) and Erik Miller (1-4--5) are all in their first seasons with the hockey club. Pilon has been terrific as a versatile player moving up and down the line-up.

On defense, Ryan Rehill (10-27—37) is the elder statesmen in his fourth and final season in the WHL. Dallas Valentine (3-12--15) was acquired from Moose Jaw in October. He has given the hockey club a veteran presence. Defenseman Cam Reagan (0-5--5) had limited ice time last season, but has started to play regularly this year. Dawson Davidson (5-31--36) has impressed as a 17-year-old playing well at both ends of the ice. Ondrej Vala (3-15--18) is the hockey club’s newest import player from the Czech Republic. The 17-year-old possesses size at 6’4” and plays a solid two-way game. Nolan Kneen (1-6--7) and Conner McDonald (1-2--3) are a pair of 16-year-olds that are in their first season of patrolling the backend. In , Connor Ingram (30-15-5-4) solidified himself as the Blazers starter last season and the 18-year-old is continuing his strong play. Dylan Ferguson (3-10-0-0) is the back-up and the 17-year-old has given the team a chance to win in his opportunities this season.

SPOKANE CHIEFS ‘Who to Watch’: The Chiefs score goals by committee as they get offense throughout the line-up. Markson Bechtold is a 19-year-old who can contribute at both ends of the ice. Dominic Zwerger is a veteran import player who leads the team with 25 goals this season. Keanu Yamamoto and Kailer Yamamoto are a pair of brothers from Spokane playing for the Chiefs. Kailer has had an outstanding season as a 17-year-old and leads the Chiefs with 64 points. He is not draft eligible until 2017. Hudson Elynuik has been almost a point per game player this season. Presten Kopeck and Wyatt Johnson are two overage players the Chiefs acquired mid-season. Curtis Miske and Jacob Cardiff are returning players that play hard for the Chiefs. Jaret Anderson-Dolan is a 17-year-old who had a hat trick in his first game with the Chiefs this season. Nik Andersen, Taylor Ross, Ethan McIndoe, Hayden Ostir are all first year players.

Jason Fram is the team captain and 20-year-old leader on the backend. He’s totaled 11 goals and 44 points on the season. The Chiefs defence returns Matt Sozanski, Evan Fiala, Tyson Helgeson and Jordan Henderson. Young players Jeff Faith, Jake Toporowski, and Dalton Hamaliuk. In goal Tyson Verhelest is the 18-year-old starter and has played a lot of minutes during the season. Lasse Petersen is an 18-year-old in his first season with the Chiefs.
