Rockland High School Student Receives MIAA Student-Athlete of the Month Award

Franklin, MA – Aiden Glennon, a senior at Rockland High School, has been selected as the recipient of the “MIAA Student-Athlete of the Month Award" for February 2018.

Aiden is a three-sport varsity athlete, competing in golf, basketball and baseball, and is captain of all three teams. He has been a two-year captain of the golf team leading them to the postseason both years. Aiden has been starting for the varsity basketball team since his sophomore year and has lead them to two straight South Shore League titles. He will also be a varsity pitcher for his baseball team this spring. “Aiden has proven to be an outstanding student-athlete who has earned the highest level of respect in the Rockland community and South Shore League for his interscholastic athletic accomplishments, including acts of sportsmanship,” said Rockland Principal Dr. John Harrison.

Academically, Aiden challenges himself with a demanding curriculum of Honors and Advanced Placement courses while maintaining a 4.55 GPA, ranking 5th out of 141 students in his class. He is a proud member of Rockland High School’s highly selective and well-respected National Honor Society. Furthermore, Aiden consistently makes the honor roll each term.

In addition to his academic and athletic success, Aiden plays an important role through his volunteer and community involvement efforts. He has been active in Student Government, previously serving as a Class President. It has become common to see Aiden spending many nights a week volunteering with youth sports in town, whether officiating or coaching, and constantly serves as a positive role model for young athletes. Aiden works as a youth advisor with the middle school youth group at Old South Union Church helping organize and run activities and facilitate small group discussion. Additionally, Aiden regularly volunteers at the Weymouth Food Pop Up Pantry distributing food to families in need.

Dr. Harrison concluded, “I rely on Aiden anytime I need leadership from our students. He is dependable, trustworthy, and kind. I selected him as a panelist at our upcoming Grade 8 Open House because he is highly respected in our community, intellectually and socially mature, and represents Rockland Bulldog pride.”
