Welcome to the Tasmanian team, led by its Captain Coach, Peter Hudson, . and their Officials, headed by the Chairman of the Tasmanian Football Council, Aid. D. R. Piatster, Lord Mayor of , We trust that your stay wlli be an enjoyable experience, and that you wilt return to the Apple Isle, injury free. Concratulations to John Caulfield on your appointment as State Coach for New South Wales, and all are confident that you will mould your side into a most effective"combination, able to counteract the skills demonstrated by the Tasmanian team last year. The courage shown by the State Selectors in choosing a squad of non-stop battling triers is also to be commended, and we know that each member of the selected team'will give of his utmost, all day. This will surely be a case of a game between the tried and true veterans from , and the unknown triers from New South Wales. One of the most interesting factors about this match, regardless of Its result, will be to Rauge of our chances next year in the National Football League—Wills Cup Competition. Our team today wilt give us ail an idea of the strength of our players, against top class opposition, which will be comparable to the competition we will meet in 1977. (See Article on Page 3). To alt our followers and supporters, and to those spectators who are watching a "live" match for the first time, we trust you will enjoy this spectacular match, and look forward to seeing you at more of our local games each weekend. The "curtain-raiser" match today is of prime importance to both competing Clubs to improve their positions on the ladder, and should be a ripper. NEWTOWN RULES CLUB LTD.
