The last Order under Section 51 of the Local Government Act 1972 in relation to the electoral arrangements for the districts in the County of Cheshire was made on 28 September 1978. As required by Section 63 and Schedule 9 of the Act we have now reviewed the electoral arrangements for that county, using the procedures we had set out in our Report No 6. 2. We informed the Cheshire County Council in a consultation letter dated 12 January 1979 that we proposed to conduct the review, and sent copies of the letter to the district councils, parish councils and parish meetings in the county, to the Members of Parliament representing the constituencies concerned, to the headquarters of the main political parties and to the editors both of » local newspapers circulating in the county and of the local government press. Notices in the local press announced the start of the review and invited comments from members of the public and from interested bodies. 3» On 1 August 1979 the County Council submitted to us a draft scheme in which they suggested 71 electoral divisions for the County, each returning one member in accordance with Section 6(2)(a) of the Act. -

Analysis of 2008 CPA The Scale of Things Councillor Newton Wood Chair Overview and Scrutiny 23 JULY 2008 1 FOREWORD The contents of this report have the approval of the Overview and Scrutiny Coordinating Group for presentation to the full Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting for their consideration on Wednesday 23 rd July 2008. It is important that this report identifies, for officers, members and the community, the exact position Teesdale is in, that is in relation to the scale of performance within our own county, County Durham and in the bigger picture that is in the country as a whole. Without being aware of where we are, we are unlikely to know where we are going! Unitary status is on the horizon. Durham County Council is a 4 star authority and has compared itself to other single tier councils in the country. Beyond doubt, with such expertise, acknowledged skills and professionalism the new authority will serve to compliment and improve upon the quality of services for the Teesdale community. However, as many weaknesses have been identified by the 2008 CPA inspection, our position in relation to the rest of the country has already been determined by The Audit Commission. This report highlights:- • Where we are at this point in time • Areas which need attention • Those weaknesses which can be handed over to county methods and procedures. • Some areas which need urgent attention by Teesdale District Council • The new county councillors representing Teesdale will now, hopefully, be aware of where we are in the scale of things and the work they have ahead of them to bring us in line with our fellow districts in County Durham. -

Indicative for the following two years Development Control Service: Service Manager: Richard Edwards Corporate Context The LSP – The Joined-up Approach As a leading member of the South Kesteven Local Strategic Partnership, the Council has worked closely with representatives of the business, voluntary and public sector to profile the needs of the area. This has resulted in the LSP adopting the following long-term vision: To ensure that by 2020 our residents live in one of the ten most desirable locations in the country and are proud that they have the skills necessary to participate in sustainable communities that are safe, healthy and economically vibrant”. In order to translate this vision into action, the LSP has approved the following four priorities, which will guide the new Community Strategy currently being prepared: a) Community safety and health. b) Housing and sustainable communities c) Town centres and economic development d) Improved transport and access. SKDC – The Vision The District council’s vision complements and supports the vision of the LSP it is: ‘To ensure that the residents of South Kesteven are proud of their district and their Council’ This concept of “Pride” is articulated as a series of five steps detailed in a series of leaflets: a) Performance and Priorities b) Respect and recognition for diversity c) Informing and Involving d) Developing Communities e) Empowering and enabling SKDC - Strategic Alignment In making strategic choices regarding service delivery the Council has taken account of the shared priorities that have been agreed at national level between representatives from Local Government and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). -

Dorset Council’s Plan 2020 - 2024 DRAFT Introduction This is the Dorset Council plan which sets out our ambitions for the next four years. It incorporates the political vision of your new councillors. Our ambition is to put Dorset Council at the heart of the community. The creation of the new council on 1 April 2019 Local Government has enabled us to make significant savings which Reorganisation have been reinvested into council services: Dorset was served by nine councils until 1 April 2019 • the reduction in the number of councillors from 204 when a local government reorganisation reduced these to 82 has produced £400,000 per year in savings to two: • the reduction in the number of senior manager roles, • Dorset Council and staffing costs in areas of duplication like finance, (formerly Dorset County Council, East Dorset District HR, and IT will achieve savings of £5.2m in 2019/20 Council, North Dorset District Council, Purbeck District and £10m per year in a full council year Council, West Dorset District Council, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council) • the reduction of costs for insurance, audit fees and other activities where the council now only pays for • Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council one organisation rather than six. (formerly Bournemouth Borough Council, Christchurch Borough Council, Borough of Poole Council) Despite this, the council faces significant financial challenges mainly due to growing demand for: Why did we come together to form a new unitary council? • support for children with special educational needs and disabilities • To protect frontline services by reducing costs and duplication.
