Distinguished Chief Guest of the Day Dr. Asha Thomas IAS, Our Celebrity Guest Mr. Shyju Nellikadu, beloved Vice Chairman Mr. Jabson Varghese, Trust members, Managers, Invited Guests, Parents, Colleagues and my beloved Children.

Another momentous action filled, an exciting year is drawing to a close. The Annual Day celebrations that is the grand finale of all the activities of the academic year has finally arrived. MGMKCS stands for the reintegration of Indian culture. This evening, I seek the blessings of the Holy Saint Mar Gregorious of Parumala and feel greatly honoured to present the 13 th Annual Report of Mar Gregorious Memorial Kauruna Central School. Trust and Gratitude is an abiding tone, as I explore the session in its wholesomeness and electric texture, putting a system into place and see it reap dividends, is a satisfying feeling.

The Academic year began on 3 rd June for UKG to Class X and for LKG on 6 th June 2019. There was a good increase in the admission to various classes which shows the goodwill of MGM Group of schools among the Parents. We have a student strength of 1030 and are blessed with highly dedicated 47 members of teaching and 38 members of Non-teaching staff. This year has been very fruitful and witnessed excellent achievements in Academics, Co-curricular activities, Sports & Games and Infrastructure too. The newly built three storied building with thirty Classrooms were occupied by the Primary classes.

Excellence in Academics is the Halmark of any institution. Our Class X students, who appeared for AISSE 2019 achieved 100% Results. Out of 27 students, two secured full A1 Grade. Six students secured above 90% and fourteen students secured Distinction. Miss. Gadha Prakash was the School Topper with 97%; was the Second Topper with 96.4%. Surya Kiran secured centum in Social Science and was awarded 0.01% Certificate of Merit by CBSE. It is awarded to the topper at National Level. Our students participated in many competitive exams. In MTSE (Maths Talent Search Examination) 355 students participated and 28 students were qualified for the final examination.

420 students participated in the All Indian Swachh Bharath Art Competition conducted by National Educational and Human Resource Development Organization. 16 Students received Art Excellence Awards . Best Performance Award was bestowed for the School, Principal and Art Teacher.

The Talent Search Olympiad was conducted for English, Science, Maths and G.K by Science Olympiad Foundation . 236 Students participated. 16 students were awarded Medal of Distinction.34 Students received Gold Medal, 13 Students received Silver Medal and 8 Students Page 1 of 4

received bronze Medal. Arwin Santhosh of Class III A is qualified for the National Science & International Maths Second Level of Olympiad. Jani J. R of Class VI was adjudged as an outstanding student for the Online Scholarship “MINDWARS” . Miss. Thrisha Baiju of Class VIII won the 2 nd Prize in Elocution conducted by YMCA . A team of 17 students participated in the SAAVY HUNT at , and won prizes.

140 Students participated in the Vidhya Dharsan Talent Examination . Kum. Avani A. R of UKG received first Rank and was awarded Cash Prize of Rs. 2,000/- and a Memento. One III rd Rank Cash Prize of Rs. 500/-, 3 fifth rank of Cash Prize Rs. 200/- and 94 Medals with Cash Prize of Rs.100/- were awarded. Our School was also awarded one of the best schools.

We are extremely delighted to inform this August Gathering that our school team has been adjudged as one among the 102 best Innovative Ideas for the Young Innovators Programme (YIP) for the 2019 – 2022 session conducted by Development Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC). ‘Smart Cradle’ was our Innovative Idea. Master. Adithyan. M, Nidhi S. Jith, Arjun Deepu and Muhammed Afsal of Class X were the team members led by Head Mistress Priya. N. V.

A special window of Mentoring, Scholarship for students and Grant for the School are the achievements. Our students along with Parents & HM attended the First Kerala Innovation Day, inaugurated by Honourable Chief Minister and special Photo session of YIP 2019 – 2022, with K-DISC and Kerala Start-up Mission.

In the field of Sports & Games also, we are no way behind. Our Sports Day was celebrated on 23 rd November 2019. Dr. K. Ramabhadran , Vice President of Sports Council was the Chief Guest. Students participated in the events representing four houses Nalanda, Taxila, Vikramsila and Ujjain all ancient Universities. A team of 58 students took part in Trivandrum Sahodaya Atheletic Meet on 30 th November 2019 & 01 st December at LNCPE , Trivandrum. Master. Vijay of Class X won Gold Medal in High Jump Category III. Vivek Waugh of Class VIII had won Gold Medal in High Jump Category II. Shan Sumarajan won II Prize in Long Jump. We had also won the Bronze Medal in 4 x 100 m. Relay in Category II. Shabi V of Class VII A won the Silver Medal in Junior Girls Boxing Championship. Our Junior and Sub-Junior team of Football participated in the Reliance Foundation Tournament at Kollam and we were the winners of and qualified for the next level. Younus Rahim of Class VI A, Muhammed Uvais of Class VII A and Siva R. P of Class X were adjudged as best Players in the Reliance Football Championship , conducted on 12 th November 2019 and would be awarded educational scholarship by the Reliance Foundation. Our children participated in the 5th Inter- School Chess championship held in Kollam. Master Gowrishankar of Class VIII, Master Adarsh Ajay of Class VII A, Master Sayed Muhammed Ismail of Class VIII won First Page 2 of 4

Prize with Gold Medal in Category II and qualified for the State Level. We bagged the Overall Championship for Category II. We are the winners of KINGS Chess Academy Championship . FIT Movement, a great initiative of Human Resource Development Ministry is implemented in our school and we are awarded FIT INDIA Certificate by Government of India Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. On 5 th August 2019, Kollam District Level Tennikoit Competition was conducted in our school. Six schools from Kollam District participated. Kum. Nidhi S. Jith of Class X and Master. Kasinath. K of Class X were selected for the State Level meet.

We celebrated the Inter-House Youth Festival “Swaralaya” , with Pomp and Gaiety and Sri. Murugan Kattakkada was the Chief Guest. Trivandrum Sahodaya Youth Festival, was conducted from 24 th October to 26 th October at Trivandrum. 103 Students participated and we were the Runner-up in Category I with 162 Points and Second Runner-up in Category II with 106 Points.

Integrated Science Exhibition was conducted on 6 th December in our school. Children actively participated in the Exhibition. The Exhibition catered to accelerate the children’s Scientific Talents and Aptitude towards Innovative Ideas in various subjects. All the departments conducted the Exhibition separately, which was well appreciated by the Parents.

The Investiture Ceremony of the School Council was conducted on 8 th July. Mr. George Koshi Asst. Commissioner of Police , was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Geevarghese Johnson Trustee felicitated the function.

Nallapadam a project in association with Malayala Manorama has been working well in our school. We have conducted more than 15 activities to encourage the value of empathy, love belongingness in our students. We have A1 Grade for the same.

An awareness programme against drugs was arranged for the students of classes 6 th to 8 th . The session was led by Mr. Sudheer K , Inspector of Police, .

Space week was celebrated on 05 th October. Mr. Ansar from VSSC Trivandrum conducted a Lecture programme for the students, “A WAY TO SPACE”.

Awareness programme for the classes VII to X was conducted by the District Legal Service Authorities; Kollam (LAMP).

Aiming all round development, our school is concentrating on Roller Skating, Karate, Chess, Yoga, Band, Abacus, Instrument Music and clubs like Art, Craft, Home Science, Consumer, Literary, Maths, Science and Health. True with Indian Tradition, we celebrated all important days & festivals. Our KG section is bubbling with energy and filled with lots fun activities throughout the year. Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Grandparents’ Day, Children’s Day, Rainbow

Day, Malala Day, Kerala Piravi, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and all other important days are celebrated embedding values to mould them a good citizen. All our achievements and celebrations are uploaded in our Youtube Channel.

Parents render their relentless support in our activities. Class-wise PTM were conducted after all the exams. Certainly parents are our valid customers. We appreciate & acknowledge their cooperation.

This institution is propelled by MGM Group of Schools. It is the favour and enthusiasm manifested by the management, that urges us forward. I acknowledge and appreciate each and every trust members for their unflagging spirit in turning our institution in to an icon of excellence in quality education.

I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to our beloved Chairman Dr. Geevarghese Yohannan, whose vision and insight has make this temple of learning a reality and an experience, I acknowledge our gratitude to our Vice Chairman Mr. Jabson Varghese, Trustees Mr. Thomas Daniel, Mr. Geevarghese Johnson, Mrs. Jainamma Yohannan, our Managers Mr. Sunil Kumar and Mr. YGK Pillai, Dr.. Renjith Alexandar Academic Director, and other members of MGM Group of schools for their involvement and guidance in all our endeavours. My profound and heartfelt gratitude flows to all my parents & students, Co- ordinators, teaching, non-teaching staff for their whole hearted co-operation that made my task easy.
