In this very difficult time for all of us, may you come to grow more appreciative of God’s presence in your lives as well as more appreciative of the gifts of the people who are part of the fabric of our lives.

On behalf of Fr. Flor, myself and all members of the parish staff I hope and pray that all the blessings of this Easter season will come upon you and support and strengthen you on your daily journeys in this very difficult period of history. Msgr Ron .

Mass Times for Sundays : While we changed the Mass timetable for the last two weekends, from next Sunday we will revert to the former timetable which means the times of Masses will be as follows: SATURDAYs— Saturday Evening Vigil Masses: 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM; SUNDAYs—Sunday morning Masses: 7:30 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:30 AM (live streamed) & 10:30 AM. From Monsignor Ron … The most fundamental message of Easter is that Christ is not dead, he is alive. The heart of the Good News is that resurrected from the dead. This reality is what makes sense of his life and our lives and what makes life worth living. We need to think about this. God made me because he loved the idea of me and he wants to have an ongoing, in fact permanent relationship with me. Now, Jesus has made all this possible by his resurrection. What is more, we have the Holy Spirit living within us to help keep us focused on how we are to live our lives so that we may prepare for our own resurrection. This is all contained in the teaching of the apostles about the resurrection. We know that Jesus has overcome sin and death and by our baptism into his death and resurrection, we share his glory. So Easter is about new birth, new life, a new world with the risen Christ. We also know the purpose of life which is to follow Jesus all the way in everything. It is about living with him, speaking with him, listening to him, loving him and working with him as we make our journey to eternal life. The Church celebrates its greatest feast this weekend which is the resurrection of the Lord. We celebrate his triumphant over death which is also our triumphant over death. We celebrate the fact that where Jesus has gone before us, he invites us to follow both in the way we live our lives and when our lives are complete here on earth. The holds out an invitation to all of us. It invites us to open our hearts to the presence of the risen Christ in today's world. It invites us to let Jesus do for us what he has done for so many before us. It invites us to love again, after our love has been rejected and we are tempted to hate. It invites us to hope again, after our hope has been dashed to pieces and we are tempted to despair. It invites us to believe again, after our belief has been shaken and we are tempted to doubt. It invites us to pick up the broken pieces and start again, after discouragement has crushed us and we are ready to quit. The resurrection of Jesus is the Good News that Jesus has defeated evil and death, and so will we. It is the Good News that nothing can destroy us any more -- not pain, not sorrow, not rejection, not sin, not even death itself. The resurrection is the good news that Jesus is alive and active in our world, ready to work miracles for us and in us, if we but welcome him into our lives. At this time, we are invited to renew our commitment to live the way of life that Jesus has given to us. We do this by publicly renewing our Baptismal Commitment. Let today be a new beginning for each and every one of us.

NOVENA OF DIVINE MERCY The novena prayers will be prayed in the church each morning after the 9 AM Mass.

Project Compassion: All those who are going to make a contribution to project compassion this year are encouraged to return the envelopes and boxes with their contributions as soon as possible. Please remember that if you are wishing to claim a taxation deduction that you need to mark the appropriate place on the envelope or on the box.

The Renewal of Baptismal Promises: At Easter we are invited to renew the commitment made on the occasion of our baptism in which we will promise to avoid anything that creates a barrier to our relationship with our God. We also promise to base our lives on what the believes and teaches. UPDATE ON PARISH MAINTENANCE: As you are aware, the recent storms created some problems with the roof of the Church. These are currently being repaired. When this is complete, we will move to replacing all the ceiling panels in the Church as these are now about 27 years old and are very much beginning to show wear and tear, which fact has not been helped by the leaks in the church. The replacing of the ceiling is actually something we talked about last year as a project for this year. The cost of doing this will be about $50,000.

30 March 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Re: COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

Yesterday, NSW Health wrote to us advising they have revised the COVID-19 guidelines for places of worship given the recently announced lockdown measures in Queensland.

I trust that you are aware that there have now been several cases of community transmission detected in that state. The situation there increases the risk to your communities at this time, particularly vulnerable members of our parishes.

Considering this, NSW Health has urged that we take the relevant precautions to protect our communities over this period. This includes requesting our parishioners who have been in the affected areas of Greater Brisbane since 20 March (Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Moreton Bay and Brisbane Council Areas) to not attend religious services in person, in line with the current stay-at- home requirements.

Please also request that they consider their movements and whether they have been in any direct contact with people who may be visiting from those aforementioned areas during this period.

Wearing of face masks at places of worship continues to be strongly recommended by NSW Health, especially indoors and when social distancing is not possible.

For those note able to attend services in person, the Diocese of Parramatta will be live streaming Masses and liturgies during Holy Week. This includes the Chrism Mass, Mass of the Lord’s Supper, Good Friday, Easter Vigil Mass, and Easter Sunday Mass. These services can be viewed here: www.youtube.com/user/ParramattaDiocese.

Many of our parishes are also live streaming their services. For a list of these parishes, please visit: https://parracatholic.org/covid19.

Thank you for the work you do and your support during these times.

With my prayers during this Holy Week,

Very Rev Peter G. Williams Vicar General & Moderator of the Curia
