Training Workshop Report on Climate Change Hazards, Impacts and Adaptation at Bagerhat Sadar , Bagerhat

A training workshop was held on ‘’Climate Change Hazards, Impacts and Adaptation” under Coastal Climate Resilient Infrastructure Project (CCRIP) of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) on 02 October, 2017 at Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Auditorium. The workshop was organized by LGED, Bagerhat which was presided by Mr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Khan, Chairman, Bagerhat Sadar Upazila, and was inaugurated by Mr. Md. Nurul Hafiz, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of the upazila. A total of 43 participants attended the workshop including Upazila vice-chairman, Vice-chairman (Female), Union Parishad Chairman, Concerned GoB Officers, Heads of Educational Institutions, Members of Professional Groups, Teachers, Civil Society Organizations, Journalist and Local Elites. It was a common platform where the resource persons on climate change and other sectors have met together to share their idea and indigenous knowledge about climate change hazards, impacts and adaptation.

Mr. Sarder Shafiqul Alam, Coordinator, ICCCAD and Mr. Hasan Mohammed Asiful Hoque, Coordinator, Training Programme of International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) at the Independent University, (IUB) facilitated the workshop as resource persons. Dr. Md. Jahangir Hussain, Livelihood Specialist, CCRIP, informed about project activities of CCRIP. Mr. Md. Afzal Hossain, Additional Chief Engineer, LGED, also discussed about the importance of knowledge sharing and capacity building of stakeholders through this type of training workshops to make the coastal area climate resilient.
