View this bulletin online at www.DiscoverMass.com PASTOR’S COLUMN Dear Brothers and Sisters, As the days go by, we continue to see an increase in COVID numbers – even in our area. Daily I am being notified of parishioners who are now positive symptomatic. On Saturday, July 11th, we had our first funeral due to COVID illness. Everyday I pray that God will spare us all from this disease. But, friends, we must do our part to make the prayer realized. We know what the medical experts are telling us, and we need to take heed. This past week we heard Jesus say in the , “Let those who have ears, hear!” Don’t go out in public gatherings if you don’t have to. And, if you do, remember to wash your hands or use sanitizer, wear a mask and keep that proper distance from those not in your household. Recently we’ve received multiple calls for anointing – and even last rites – for people who are ill with COVID-19. If they are in a nursing home or hospital, we are not able to go and visit because of the institutions’ restrictions. If they are at home, I cannot go and be exposed to the virus. If either Fr. Justin or I are exposed to the virus we will have to be tested and go into quarantine, meaning a complete shut down of the parish. It’s happening to parishes within the archdiocese. Both of us – and our – are happy to pray with people over the phone; but we know that it is not the sacrament of Anointing. It’s heartbreaking for me to not be able to bring the comfort and healing of the sacrament. And so, please keep all of the COVID positive people in your prayers. Ask our Lady of Prompt Succor to intercede on their behalf. There is some good news in all of this. We have been approved to re-open our Early Childhood Center. In fact, they’ve been in operation for three weeks now. There were a number of criteria that had to be met and under the watchful direction of Kathy Schaefer, we hear the joyful shouts and sounds of children again in our building. The teachers have had to take State Sponsored ongoing formation as part of the reopening plan. The complete plan was approved by the Cardinal’s office as well as the State. The children go through the same type of entrance requirements as do those coming to Mass. A lot of supplies have had to become individual use supplies; but all in all, everyone is happy to have some sense of normalcy with the children. They are a sign of hope and movement forward as they are “bubbled” in our building. We are presently working on a special evening of music to honor our patron saint, Ignatius of Loyola. His feast day is July 31st, a Friday this year. The music department is planning a way to invite you to come and be present in the church – just like at Mass – and enjoy the sounds of music that will lift the wear heart. Organ, trumpet, solo voices, piano and other instruments joining together – at proper distancing and masking – to give God glory and praise. We will keep you posted through Flocknotes and other announcements. But, to help you envision the plan, think of what it is like coming to Mass. But, instead of Mass, it will be a time filled with music, sacred music, to honor and give thanks to the Lord. Mark your calendars. Seating will be limited to the 25% capacity of our church’s nave. Traditionally students and families in our formation programs follow the schedule for Klein Independent School District. I am sure you are aware that KISD has announced that there are two options for students in the Fall: Klein-Campus and Klein-Online. With that in mind, our formation department is now able to pull together our program for the Fall semester. I invite you to watch for updates, keep an eye on your email and our website over the next few weeks. The members of the department, in consultation with parents, catechists and the archdiocese are working vigilantly on ways to keep the faith alive and growing. Stay safe. Stay home if you don’t need to go out. While the obligation for physical attendance at Mass is still dispensed, don’t neglect your relationship with the Lord. And stay connected to the Lord through scripture, prayer and by participating in livestream Mass. With Blessings for a restful summer,
