A Goofy Movie and an Extremely Goofy Movie: a Comparison Max's Portrayal a Goofy Movie Made Him Come Across As More Sympatheti A Goofy Movie and An Extremely Goofy Movie: A comparison Max’s Portrayal A Goofy Movie made him come across as more sympathetic overall, as well as being justified in him being the main protagonist. In An Extremely Goofy Movie he was borderline unlikeable and a screen hog. Goofy’s Portrayal An Extremely Goofy Movie sympathized with him more, and gave him more of a personality overall. In A Goofy Movie he still clearly had tons to do. Pete’s Portrayal In A Goofy Movie, he was the main antagonist and was presented wonderfully, while he barely even showed up in An Extremely Goofy Movie PJ’s Portrayal An Extremely Goofy Movie clearly put a lot of thought and care into his presentation, while he was easy to miss in A Goofy Movie; however, A Goofy Movie is more relatable out of context Bobby’s Portrayal Bobby is consistently funny throughout A Goofy Movie, and all of his best gags are in the first one. However, he’s more dimensional in An Extremely Goofy Movie. Antagonist Portrayal Principal Mazur and Pete are both mild and mundane threats but Pete is frighteningly realistic especially considering how many people in real life believe what he’s doing is justified based on his words alone. Bradley is more explicitly evil, but in a setting you wouldn’t expect (an extreme sports team leader), while Tank has a heel face turn. Love Interest Portrayal Roxanne has almost no characterization besides being nice and slightly awkward, while a more rounded Stacey barely gets a role in the movie outside of matchmaker and very brief love interest. Beret Girl has a densely demonstrated personality and role in limited screentime, but they never bothered to give her a name, but Sylvia has decent personality development and screentime. Minor Character Portrayal Powerline, Bigfoot, and Roxanne’s dad barely appear but you can easily see who they are personality-wise. Chuck the sportscaster has no personality beyond “loud and obnoxious” and his ground reporter Ken has even less of one, though is mildly sympathetic, despite appearing for a large chunk of the third act and one scene in the second, but the referee is cool. The side Gammas are also fairly boring despite much screentime. Family Portrayal Goofy and Max are more mutually sympathetic in the first movie. In the second, Goofy is really too dense to function at times, and Max is at times a complete jerk. There is also almost no Pete/PJ interaction in An Extremely Goofy Movie, and though contextually that’s a good thing, it still makes A Goofy Movie stronger. Friendship Portrayal A Goofy Movie portrayed the friendship between Max and PJ as stronger than the one between Max and Bobby and had a little focus on Stacey and Roxanne’s friendship as well. An Extremely Goofy Movie was a little weaker in this regard as Max’s friends were often treated during his parts like satellite characters, and Bobby had an inexplicable increase in friendship strength. Romance Portrayal An Extremely Goofy Movie’s relationships seem far more built to last as you get to see quite a bit of courtship happening rather than just people asking each other out/meeting cute with no payoff. Their personalities are also obviously compatible. Art Both movies had great art, but A Goofy Movie’s background extras were overall more creative than An Extremely Goofy Movie’s. But I can’t fault AEGM for making Pete look more catlike in the mouth and PJ even more adorable. Music A Goofy Movie was a musical and An Extremely Goofy Movie wasn’t, so A Goofy Movie is better by default. Tightness in Writing A Goofy Movie has very few writing errors, though it did have a glaring OOC (not serious business) moment, while An Extremely Goofy Movie has more moments that don’t add up. Density of Plot Both movies seem like fast-paced fun from the start, but An Extremely Goofy Movie starts to drag near the end while A Goofy Movie doesn’t. Jokes I’ve seen both movies enough times I’m desensitized to most of their jokes, but overall the jokes in A Goofy Movie are funnier. An Extremely Goofy Movie had PJ on comedy at times, so that’s an improvement in some ways. Excitement The climax of An Extremely Goofy Movie is fairly exciting, but it’s not QUITE as intense as the waterfall scene… unless you’re a PJ fan… but even then, that’s sort of glossed over Pathos Despite the fact that A Goofy Movie has Pete abusing PJ more frequently than An Extremely Goofy Movie, you still feel sorry for PJ throughout the movie making them more tied, and Goofy would almost be a woobie himself in An Extremely Goofy Movie if he didn’t cause a lot of his own problems due to hypocrisy. Chuck Cunningham Syndrome Roxanne and Stacey disappearing can be easily explained; Peg and Pistol disappearing, not so much. Ending Both movies have happy endings, but Goofy and PJ, the most sympathetic characters in the cast, get final happy endings in An Extremely Goofy Movie, so it’s better. In Context In context, An Extremely Goofy Movie is a better Goof Troop movie by far, due to numerous call backs, mythology gags, and hilarious in hindsight/heartwarming in hindsight moments. Out of Context Out of context, A Goofy Movie is a better stand- alone movie, because it relies less on previously established facts and relationships overall, giving you more bang for your buck if you’ve never seen any other part of the series. Total: A Goofy Movie: Max’s Portrayal, Pete’s Portrayal, Bobby’s Portrayal, Antagonist Portrayal, Minor Character Portrayal, Family Portrayal, Friendship Portrayal, Art, Music, Tightness of Writing, Density of Plot, Jokes, Excitement, Out of Context (14) An Extremely Goofy Movie: Goofy’s Portrayal, PJ’s Portrayal, Love Interest Portrayal, Romance Portrayal, Pathos, Chuck Cunningham Syndrome, Ending, In Context (8) A Goofy Movie is overall better, but An Extremely Goofy Movie is definitely better in some ways, including quite a few that matter highly to me (such as the portrayals of the most sympathetic characters, the context, and the romantic subplots). .

Goofy is a tall, anthropomorphic dog, and typically wears a turtle neck and vest, with pants, shoes, white gloves, and a tall hat originally designed as a rumpled fedora. Goofy is a close friend of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and is one of Disney's most popular characters. He is normally characterized as extremely clumsy and dimwitted, yet this interpretation isn't always definitive; occasionally Goofy is shown as intuitive and clever, albeit in his own unique, eccentric way. Goofy debuted in animated cartoons, starting in 1932 with Mickey's Revue. Goofy also starred at his first solo cartoon called Goofy and Wilbur which was directed by Dick Huemer and first released on March 17, 1939. The short featured Goofy fishing with the help of Wilbur, his pet grasshopper. Originally known as Dippy Dawg, the character is more commonly known simply as "Goofy," a name used in his short film series. In his 1950s persona, Goofy was called George Geef, or G. G. Geef, implying that "Goofy" was merely a nickname. In Goofy Gymnastics (1949) he fills out a coupon with the name James Boyd.Sources from the Goof Troop continuity give the character's full name as Goofy Goof, or G.
