South Claydon House LECHLADE,

www.jackson-stops.co.uk The Property

Claydon House was built in the 17th century as a Gentleman’s country seat. Enlarged in the 19th century, it was subsequently divided into three parts in the 1950s, to make it more practical by contemporary standards, with South Claydon House now comprising the principal part. A very handsome property, its south facing façade has castellated stone work and traditional stone mullion windows which present a most impressive sight on arrival. The house is listed Grade II as a building of architectural and historic interest.

South Claydon House is well presented internally and externally, with spacious rooms that enjoy good levels of natural light. A solid oak front door leads to the stone flagged Hall from which at the far end, a broad staircase with fluted newel posts, rises to the upper floors. On either side of the Hall are respectively, the Drawing Room (with a magnificent marble fireplace) and the panelled Dining Room, both very gracious rooms for entertaining. The accommodation on the first and second floors mirrors the rooms below with potentially up to six bedrooms (four doubles), available. Outside, the house is set off by a lovely garden and there is a detached Double Garage which incorporates the garden store and workshop.
