Park City, UT — Offering a first look at the year ahead in independent film, culture and new ideas, Sundance Institute announced today the 65 films selected for the U.S. Competition, World Competition and out-of- competition NEXT category set to premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, January 21-31 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. Films that have premiered in these sections include Beasts of the Southern Wild, Fruitvale Station, Whiplash, Blackfish, The September Issue, The Cove, An Education, Animal Kingdom, Precious, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Obvious Child, Tangerine and Escape from Tomorrow. The Festival is the centerpiece of the year-round public programs for the Institute, which also hosts 24 residency Labs for independent artists in theatre, film, new media and episodic content and grants more than $2.5 million to independent artists each year.     Vet Times The website for the veterinary profession https://www.vettimes.co.uk Victorian vets: woeful reputations Author : Pippa Elliott Categories : Vets Date : September 12, 2011 Pippa Elliott looks back to a time where the profession was held in much lower regard than it is now “YES, there are plenty [of vets],” said Polynesia, ’but none of them any good at all,” by Hugh Lofting in The Story of Doctor Dolittle. Times change Perhaps there was a golden age, probably around the time of James Herriot, when people trusted and respected the veterinary profession. However, now there are investigative journalists, the internet and clients coming in telling you, the professional, the treatment they have researched and want their pets to have. We live in times of accountability to the public, and helping them make informed decisions. However, perhaps taking examples from history, change has been a long time coming. Looking back at the veterinary profession’s earliest reputation, it seems it started from a pretty low base. Take, for example, this passage from Hugh Lofting’s popular novel The Story of Doctor Dolittle from 1920. It says: “It happened one day that the doctor was sitting in his kitchen talking with the cat’s meat 1 / 3 man, who had come to see him with a stomach ache. “‘Why don’t you give up being a people’s doctor and be an animal doctor?’ asked the cat’s meat man. “‘But there are plenty of animal doctors,’ John Dolittle replied. “‘But you see, Doctor,’ the cat’s meat man went on, ’you know all about animals much more than what these here vets do.’ ’‘Yes, there are plenty,’ said Polynesia (the parrot), ‘but none of them any good at all.’” Only choking If we look further back to the Victorians, it seems pet owners had to be at their wits’ end to call out a vet.

For more information, please contact [email protected]. 2 Bricolage on the Upper East Side: The Intertwining of Multimedia in Emma, Clueless, and Gossip Girl ​ ​ ​ Nichole Decker Honors Scholar Project May 6, 2019 “Okay, so you’re probably going, is this like a Noxzema commercial or what?” - Cher ​ ​ In this paper I will analyze the classic novel Emma, and the 1995 film Clueless, as an ​ ​ ​ ​ adaptive pair, but I will also be analyzing the TV series, Gossip Girl, as a derivative text. I bring ​ ​ this series into the discussion because of the ways in which it echos, parallels, and alludes to both Emma and Clueless individually, and the two as a source pair. I do not argue that the series is an ​ ​ ​ actual adaptation, but rather, a sort of collage, recombining motifs from both source texts to create something new, exciting, and completely absurd.
