Back to school Offer Optical Offer We had a back to school offer of 30% cash discount on all spectacles for students. Higher Ophtalmic Nursing Training Programme Clinical Placement- Medical Training - Nairobi

In the month of January, we received trainees from Kenya Medical Training College- Nairobi from various faculties.

From the Faculty of Nursing we received four [4] The Ophthalmic trainee nurses upon ophthalmic Nursing students to undertake clinical completion of their training at Kisii Eye placement in ophthalmic nursing. The nurses were Said Hospital Aden, Sr. Martha Kamau, Lucy Samoei, Juliana Langat and David Ogera. They underwent rigorous training and did rotation in all our hospital departments for a period Diploma In Training of three [3] months. From the Faculty of Optometry , we received two [ 2] optometry interns namely Matthew Kwena Kuchio and Carolyne Asande. They are still ongoing for their training that will last for four [ 4] months. They are undertaking a Diploma in Optometry and are in their final year. Their training revolves around the following aspects; refraction, retinoscopy, slit lamp, ocular disorders and management, tonometry, visual field, Trainee ophthalmic nurses with their tutor Mrs. Epilation, funduscopy and Biometry. Mr. Victor Kutto completed his six-month training in ophthalmology and Cataract surgery. He came to us from Kenya Medical Training College – Nairobi; where he was pursuing his Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine [Ophthalmology and Cataract Surgery]. Mr. Kutto also benefited from the Right to Sight Small Incision Cataract Surgery Skills Refinement Training Programme.

Research

Dr. Joseph Litcht from Emory visited Kisii Eye Hospital. He was involved in a research program – “Long term clinical outcomes of cataract surgery”. This study was being conducted in collaboration with ACCESS program.
