  • Joel Alford and Clarky B. Carroll
Known Descendants of Joel Alford and Clarky B. Carroll The 5th and 6th generations were removed to protect the privacy of most of the living descendants. This is the current (April 2008) version of a work in progress. It is known to be incomplete and is likely to contain error. Please treat it accordingly and send corrections or additions to [email protected]. 1. Joel Alford #8626 b. estimate 1800, m. Clarky B. Carroll #8625, b. Sep 16 1807, South Carolina, d. Feb 6 1897, Horry Co., SC, buried: Bakers Chapel, Horry Co., SC. Joel died before 1850, Horry Co., SC. From Lynn Shelley email Mar 1 08 The following is from the Bone-Pascoe & English Alford Family Tree found on Rootsweb (contact person--William English). I don't know who ordered and received the Confederate Military records (as stated below) but I do have Joel listed (from the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System) as having been a private in Co. C, 10th Regt. SC Infantry. On a list from the Horry Co. Hist. Soc. site, entitled "Company C, Lake Swamp Volunteers (Horry), under privates, there are three Alfords---A. J. and S. Comparing this to the CW Soldier & Sailors list, I take these to be Arnold Bethel (mustered out, under age in 1861), Joel (captured and not heard from again); and Solomon who I assume is Levi Solomon (no notations). This leads me to believe what I wrote before about the J.T. (listed as I.T. on the SC Troops, Confederate Roll of the Dead (also on HCHS site) who died at the Battle of Secessionville, 16 June 1862 and was a Corporal in Co.
