Disaster Event – Tropical Cyclone Ita and Associated Rainfall and Flooding, 11 - 14 April 2014
Event and Timing –
Severe Tropical Cyclone Ita impacted the east coast of Queensland on 11 April 2014 and continued to track down the coast generating heavy rainfall and flooding between 11 – 14 April 2014.
Assistance Activated –
The Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services, The Honourable Jack Dempsey MP activated the Commonwealth/State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).

1 Personal Hardship Assistance Scheme activation is limited to the towns of Cooktown and Laura within the Cook Shire. Extended to Lizard Island within the Cook Shire on 16 April 2014. Further extension to the areas of Ayton, Bloomfield, Helenvale and Rossville within the Cook Shire on 22 April 2014. 2 Essential Services Safety and Reconnection Scheme activation is limited to the towns of Cooktown and Laura within the Cook Shire. Extended to the areas of Ayton, Bloomfield, Helenvale and Rossville within the Cook Shire on 22 April 2014.
