Confession and Forgiveness All may make the sign of the cross, the sign that is marked at baptism, as the presiding minister begins. Presider Blessed be the Creator who makes us whole, the Redeemer who mends our hurts, and the Holy Spirit who abides with us in times of trouble and sorrow. People Amen. Presider God of all hope, come to the help of your people, calling us from our selfishness to live for you and our neighbor. Send your Holy Spirit that we might see with new eyes and turn again to you. Open our hearts that we might love fully as you have taught us; through your Son Jesus Christ. People Amen. Presider Let us make our confession in the presence of God and of one another. Silence is kept for reflection. Gracious God, People have mercy on us. We confess that we often turn away from you and give ourselves to powers which do not bring life. We have not cared for creation as we ought, and have taken more than we have given. We have not shared your love with our neighbors, and made enemies with strangers. We turn to you with humble hearts. In your compassion heal our brokeness, forgive our injustices, things we have done and things we have failed to do. Gather us into your mercy and lift us up in your Spirit so that we may live and serve you with new and abundant life; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. Presider In the mercy of almighty God, receive God’s free and abundant life! God abides with you and shares the joy of the resurrection to new life in the name of the Father, and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit. People Amen

Now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation! Now we are in the storm, the boat almost swamped; but Jesus is here now, and when we call him, he will calm the storm. Even the wind and waves listen to him as they would to their creator. We also listen to him and are called to believe in the power of God’s word in him, a power greater than all that we fear.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
