Sangiovese Suisun Valley AVA
Vintage Brand 2019 Lanza Italian Collection
Our Process For Lanza Vineyards, Sangiovese is a high-yield grape. This varietal loves our Suisun Valley climate for its long warm growing seasons. A large percentage of our Sangiovese ship to East Coast winemakers, many of them home winemakers. We planted Sangiovese in 2009 but didn't see it in the tasting room until the 2012 vintage. Wooden Valley's Sangiovese is less acidic than the Italian version but has the fruity component that Sangiovese lovers want, making it a very food-friendly wine!! This Sangiovese aged for 12 months in a combination of new, one, two, and three-year-old barrels for the desired flavor, nose, and overall profile of this wine.
Fun fact...In Italy, Sangiovese is the most widely planted red grape variety. It's the primary grape used in the famous red wines of Tuscany, where it is the solitary grape of Brunello di Montalcino and the primary component of the wines of Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and many "Super Tuscans."
Varietal Blend Tasting Notes 96.2% Sangiovese & 3.8% Other With its elegant garnet color, this vintage of Sangiovese is one with unique character.
