Availability Our inventory changes every day. Not every item is available every day, and our factories do not always ship us all of the items we order. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the future availability of any item, even if is currently in-stock, until we have a sales order and a 10% deposit. At that time we immediately pull and pack your items so we can guarantee delivery to you. In the event of cancelled orders, or items, we charge a 10% restocking fee to cover the cost of pulling, packing, unpacking and restocking. Products Every Talavera piece is hand formed, dried or fired, glazed and painted individually by skilled artisans and then fired again in primitive kilns. Each piece is unique. Each piece differs slightly from all others in size, shape, color, texture and firing marks. Delivery We guarantee the date of departure by common carrier from our warehouse. And we do our very best to determine the date of arrival to you. Sometimes trucking companies do not perform as we wish and your delivery may be delayed. Normally we will follow up with you to confirm delivery and condition of your order. Damaged Merchandise We are here to insure that you receive the best service and merchandise in the industry. We pack all orders so that you receive your order in excellent condition. Your responsibility is to check your order and let us knowof any damage within 48 hours of receiving your merchandise. If an item is broken, please send us a picture and we will reimburse you for that item. If a shipping box is visibly damaged this should be noted before signing the delivery receipt.
Thank you, Pottery Express 2 —The Story Behind The Talavera—
The Talavera Pottery Express offers are works of art handcrafted by master artisans using techniques that have been passed down generation to generation since the 16th century. The Talavera pottery is produced in the Mexican state of Puebla, and Dolores Hidalgo. Each piece is hand molded clay or poured ceramic. The pottery is fired in gas kilns for over a week: after the initial firing the artisans begin to glaze and paint and the figures and planters begin to resemble the works of art you see here. After being painted and glazed the ceramics are fired again for about 10 days at high temperatures giving them excellent durability. Each piece from start to finish takes about a month to produce. These age old techniques, vibrant colors, and delicate attention to detail produce unique one of a kind pieces that are truly works of art. Enjoy the knowledge that you are buying a work of art that is not mass produced in China, but the product of highly skilled artisans who take pride in their work, using techniques passed down from previous generations. Talavera pottery is not frost or freeze proof. Like your favorite plant, the pottery must be taken indoors before any danger of frost. Talavera also does not like to sit in water, wet mulch, or be subjected to extreme humidity like a growing green house.
