Optical Services Listing (By Postal Code) Optical Services Survey There are many common eye conditions which could lead to permanent blindness. Most of these conditions do not show any symptoms. Hence, early detection and diagnosis are crucial to maintaining your vision. The Optometrists and Opticians Board has conducted a survey with local optical outlets to collate information on the various optical services provided at their outlets. In addition to the more common optical services available, the information includes the provision of four other useful screening tools used at the optical outlets. You may refer to the respective outlets for the required optical services. *Disclaimer: The information is provided by the respective optical practices and the optical practices shall be fully responsible for the accuracy of the information provided. Information on general uses of optical equipment 1. Subjective Refraction: it is a type of visual test carried out to determine the degree of one’s short- sightedness or long-sightedness. Any patient who is undergoing subjective refraction will normally be presented with test lenses of different optical powers or focal lengths before being prescribed the most suitable lenses. 2. Fundus photography: it is an advanced digital retina photography capturing an image of the back of the eye. It is often used to inspect anomalies and to monitor progression of eye diseases such as macular degeneration, retina neoplasms, choroid disturbances and diabetic retinopathy. 3. Non-contact Tonometer (NCT): it is a diagnostic tool to measure the intraocular pressure (IOP) inside a patient’s eyes to determine patient’s risk for developing glaucoma, a disease that causes blindness by damaging the nerve in the back of the eye. The NCT uses small puff of air to flatten the cornea in a non- invasive way to check for high IOP. 4. Humphrey Visual Field (HVF) Analyser: it is a semi-automated computerised tool to assess the functions and area of a patient’s field of vision to detect and monitor progression of posterior eye diseases such as glaucoma and retinitis pigmentosa. It is bowl-shaped and consists of a centre fixation light with blinking test lights at the side, which patient is required to click the button whenever the test lights are seen. 5. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT): it is a non-invasive ocular imaging tool that uses light waves to take cross-sectional scans for the back of the eye to detect posterior eye conditions such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Ask for Registered Practitioners Since 1 Jan 2008, under the Optometrists & Opticians Act, any person who is keen to practice optometry/opticianry in Singapore must possess a valid registration certificate and practising certificate and be registered with the Optometrists and Opticians Board. Optometrists are primary eye care providers who specialize in performing eye examinations. Through the tests conducted, they can detect eye-infections and common eye diseases such as cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, most of which may be treatable if detected early. 1 Opticians: There are 3 different categories of opticians in Singapore (more information available here). All of them are equipped with the skills to dispense and fit glasses based on prescriptions from optometrists or ophthalmologists1. 1 Ophthalmologists are medical doctors who specialise in managing eye problems. They are trained to diagnose and treat eye diseases, including prescribing medications and performing eye surgeries. 2 Optometrists and Opticians Board - Optical Services Listing (as of May 2020, sorted by postal code) Dispensing of Non-contact Humphrey Visual Field Optical Coherence Name of shop/ outlet: Address of shop/ outlet Telephone of shop/ outlet Contact email of shop/ outlet Website of shop/ outlet Refraction Contact lens Fundus Camera Postal Spectacles Tonometer (NCT) (HVF) Analyser Tomography (OCT) 3 TEMASEK BOULEVARD #02-418 SUNTEC 1 CAPITOL OPTICAL CO PTE LTD (SUNTEC CITY) 63369161 - - P P P 038983 CITY MALL S(038983) 3 TEMASEK BOULEVARD #02-368/9 SUNTEC 2 OCULAR COMPANY (SUNTEC CITY) 68357989 [email protected] - P P P P P P 038983 CITY MALL S(038983) 3 TEMASEK BOULEVARD #02-465/469/481 3 OWNDAYS (S) PTE LTD (SUNTEC CITY) 68370244 - - P P 038983 SUNTEC CITY MALL S(038983) 3 TEMASEK BOULEVARD #01-400 SUNTEC 4 W OPTICS PTE LTD (SUNTEC CITY) 67361303 [email protected] www.woptics.sg P P P P P P 038983 CITY MALL S(038983) 6 RAFFLES BOULEVARD #03-361/362/363/364 5 OPTICS HOUSE 63382610 [email protected] - P P P P P P 039594 MARINA SQUARE S(039594) 6 RAFFLES BOULEVARD #02-150/151 MARINA 6 SPECTACLE HUT PTE LTD (MARINA SQUARE) 63377717 - - P P 039594 SQUARE S(039594) 6 RAFFLES BOULEVARD #02-21/22 MARINA 7 OWNDAYS (S) PTE LTD (MARINA SQUARE) 62502919 - - P P 039594 SQUARE S(039594) 1 RAFFLES PLACE #03-26 ONE RAFFLES PLACE onerafflesplace@hirocon- 8 HIROCON PTE LTD (ONE RAFFLES PLACE) 62217737 www.hirocon-net-sg.com P P P 048616 S(048616) net.com 24 RAFFLES PLACE #02-06 CLIFFORD CENTRE 9 F.J. • Annex B: “Christmas Blooms in Singapore” by Orchard Road Business Association
Annex B: “Christmas Blooms in Singapore” by Orchard Road Business Association INTRODUCTION For the last 27 years, Christmas Light-Up @ Orchard has been a signature event which locals and tourists look forward to. This iconic annual event was created by Singapore Tourism Board, but since 2009, Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) has directed the Light-Up on Orchard Road, as part of Singapore’s year-end ‘Christmas in the Tropics’ celebrations. The theme this year is ‘Christmas Blooms in Singapore’, and this 2011 Light-Up on A Great Street will run from Saturday 19 November 2011 to Monday 2 January 2012. Hitachi is again the Main Sponsor of Christmas Light-Up @ Orchard (CLU) 2011, and Hitachi has played this role for a total of 21 years. ORBA is also delighted to once again have the support of Visa as the Official Card, and Tiffany & Co. as the Official Jeweller of the event. THEME This year’s theme celebrates Singapore’s famous identity as a Garden City, as Orchard Road is transformed into a spellbinding garden of lights. Visitors walking on the streets of Orchard Road will be greeted by thousands of glowing blue flowers. Each flower is composed of five little hearts which symbolise the heart-warming wishes of the Yuletide season, bringing love, goodwill and cheer to all. As Orchard Road twinkles softly with blue lights, it will make for a stylishly enchanting addition to Singapore’s Christmas celebrations. LIGHT UP BEYOND THE LIGHT-UP For the first time at the Switch-On Ceremony on Saturday 19 November, Singaporeans and tourists will be able to join in the magical moment through ORBA’s charity initiative ‘Light Up Beyond the Light-Up’.
