FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION The Archdiocese of Saint Louis, under the leadership of the Archbishop, is committed to provide each seminarian with generous financial support. This support may take the form of private scholarships, institutional loans, and/or federal grants and loans. For students who receive a Pell Grant, the full amount awarded is credited toward their tuition. To receive any type of federal or institutional aid, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed on the Web at https://fafsa.ed.gov. Private Grants and Scholarships: Archdiocesan Grant: Seminarians studying for Saint Louis receive a grant of $10,000 each year to help with their expenses while attending Cardinal Glennon College. The seminarian’s tuition will be adjusted to reflect this grant.

SLU/ Glennon Scholarship: Cardinal Glennon College seminarians fulfill many of their core requirements at , where they are dually enrolled during their freshmen and sophomore years. The SLU/Glennon Fund Scholarship completely covers the tuition and fees at Saint Louis University for seminarians from the Archdiocese of Saint Louis. A $10,000 SLU/Glennon Fund Scholarship is awarded each year to seminarians from other dioceses to help with their tuition and fees while they attend Saint Louis University. Priority will be given to seminarians whose dioceses currently send men to Kenrick School of Theology or those that may do so in the future. The seminarian’s tuition bill will be adjusted to reflect this scholarship.

Additional scholarship opportunities: Seminarians should consult with their Vocation Office concerning financial responsibilities and other sources of financial assistance that are available, such as the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Knights of America, and Serra Fund.

Institutional Loans:

Cardinal Glennon College Loan: Seminarians from the Archdiocese of St. Louis may apply for a Cardinal Glennon College Loan for each school year. This loan is interest-free. It must be repaid upon departure from the seminary or will be forgiven upon ordination to the priesthood. The amount of this loan is based on the financial need of the seminarian. Cardinal Glennon College Loan applications are available upon request from the Registrar.

Federal Grants and Loans:

Pell Grants: This need-based grant is awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor or professional degree. The 2015-16 maximum grant amount is $5,775. While Pell grant awards can be used for any educational-related expenses, it is the policy of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary to apply the full amount towards tuition.

Direct Loans: These loans offer low-interest, long-term loans to students. Subsidized loans are available to students with financial need; no interest accrues while the student is in school. Unsubsidized loans are not based on financial need; interest is charged during all periods. Repayment of both types of direct loans is deferred while the borrower is enrolled in school.

REFUNDS Basic costs for any given semester, not including registration fees, are refunded after the first $100.00 according to the following:

Departure within 10 academic days: 50% Departure within 20 academic days: 20% Departure within 30 academic days: 10% Departure after 30 academic days: No refund

Kenrick-Glennon Seminary is an approved institution for Veteran’s Educational Benefits and is also eligible to apply for Insured Loans to Students in Institutions of Higher Education.
