On his 72nd hole of the tournament, Davis stuck his approach to three feet and drained the birdie putt for the win. He began his final round six strokes off the lead and used a 7-under 65 on Sunday to finish one better than Kevin Dougherty, Josh Teater and Lanto Griffin. Davis went on to earn his PGA TOUR card through the 2018 Web.com Tour Finals where he finished fifth. In 2017, Lanto Griffin emerged victorious in Nashville with a win over Abraham Ancer in the only playoff in tournament history. Griffin birdied the first extra hole to earn his first Web.com Tour title after making the cut on the number. In his third round, Griffin tied the single-round tournament scoring record with a 10-under 62 and fired a final-round 68 to earn a spot in the playoff.

The five players ties the Korn Ferry Tour’s all-time record of players tied for a 36-hole lead, which had previously occurred seven times since 1991 and most recently at the 2016 DAP Championship. Of the five, Langley was the only player to tee off in Friday’s morning wave, following up a first- round 66 with a second-round 68 to take the early clubhouse lead. Like all 156 players in the field, the former PGA TOUR member entered the week wondering exactly what his game would look like after more than 100 days away from competition due to the coronavirus pandemic. “I didn’t quite know what to expect with my competitive game coming in here because it’s basically been four months since my last tournament,” said Langley.

  • Muñoz, Sloan Share 18-Hole Lead at Web.Com Tour's Rex Hospital Open
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Alex Wood May 31, 2018 (850) 691-6756 First-Round Leaderboard Pos. Name Scores 1 Sebastian Muñoz 64 (-7) Roger Sloan 3 Sepp Straka 65 (-6) Chris Baker Muñoz, Sloan share 18-hole lead at Web.com Tour’s Rex Hospital Open RALEIGH, N.C. – It was a gloomy Thursday in Raleigh, North Carolina, for the 25th playing of the Rex Hospital Open contested at TPC Wakefield Plantation, but Colombian Sebastian Muñoz and Canadian Roger Sloan shone through the clouds, each posting rounds of 7-under 64 to stake a claim of the first-round lead. The lead marks Muñoz’s fourth first-round lead/co-lead of the 2018 Web.com Tour Season, and the first of Sloan’s career. Austria native Sepp Straka and Chris Baker sit one back of the duo. The round wasn’t all smooth sailing for Muñoz, who opened play with a bogey on the par-4 first. The 25-year-old refused to be shaken, however, quickly picking up steam with a birdie on No. 3. The change in momentum was crucial for the University of North Texas alum, who has missed the cut in both of his prior appearances in Raleigh. “It was huge,” he said of the early birdie. “It’s knowing that I’m playing good and just kind of getting on track and seeing the putts go in. You feed off of it and it showed in the round later.” Muñoz went on to pick up seven more birdies on the day, posting a clean scorecard after the opening blemish.
