http://cv.hkie.org.hk THE CONFERENCE Organized by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Civil Division, this conference aims to address global challenges of 21st century infrastructure development, from new standards and aspiration for quality cities, constraints of a modern built environment, to imperative of cost / resource optimization for a sustainable future. The conference will bring leading experts around the world and across a wide spectrum of disciplines to share and discuss “Innovation and Creativity” in addressing and overcoming these issues in the planning, design, construction and operation of modern day infrastructure.

THEME The goal of the conference is to highlight how engineers and non-engineers within the infrastructural development professions , through innovation and creativity, bring to new heights the capability to face and resolve modern day risks and challenges to achieve benefits in infrastructure development for cities and regions. The key focus is on infrastructure solutions that create opportunities for change and improvement, and establish sustainability and resilience for the future.

Presentations describing the following topics (with particular aspects in Innovation and Creativity) will be included in the conference:

The fee includes a copy of Conference Proceedings (or CD), refreshments & lunches (Days 1&2 on 26 & 27 Apr), dinner banquet (Day 1 on 26 Apr), a Complimentary Harbour Cruise (Day 2 on 27 Apr, first-come, first-served), and site visit in Hong Kong (Day 3 on 28 Apr).

A special PRC site visit has been arranged to visit the Mainland section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge construction works in Zhuhai, China on 28 Apr 2012, at HK$580/US$75 per delegate, which include lunch and transportation between the assembly points at Hong Kong and the site in Zhuhai. Visa application fee is excluded. The delegate is required to arrange their own China visa or reentry permit where appropriate for this PRC visit.

CANCELLATION POLICY Cancellation will be accepted only in writing via email or fax, no later than two weeks before the commencement of the Conference (i.e. on or before 12 April 2012) and only 50% of registration fee will be refunded. NO refund will be made for cancellation made after 12 April 2012. Refund will be arranged about a month after the Conference. REMARKS • The Conference is designed for 3 CPD days. Attendance certificate will be issued after the Conference. • For those papers selected for presentation in the Conference, the registration fee of the presenters (limited to one person per paper) will be waived.

DUK LING is typical of the junks built here 150 years ago - a reminder of Hong Kong’s origins when the taipans and opium traders settled on this “barren rock”. DUK LING, which means “Clever Duck” in Chinese, is the perfect way to experience Hong Kong from the ocean.

The junk sails within the harbour where you could appreciate the world’s greatest light show and the scenery of the typical Hong Kong at night.
