CHAMPIONS RETREAT HOSTS INAUGURAL EVENT BENEFITTING BIRDIES FOR THE BRAVE®

Evans, GA. – Heritage Golf Group is proud to announce that Champions Retreat, a Heritage Golf Group private golf club, hosted their first annual golf tournament benefitting Birdies for the Brave® on November 9, 2015. All proceeds from the event will benefit PGA TOUR Charities, Inc.’s Birdies for the Brave, a national military outreach initiative dedicated to raising funds and awareness for military homefront charities that provide critical services to meet the specialized needs of military members, wounded veterans and their families.

The inaugural event kicked off with registration, a patriotic opening ceremony and hearty traditional southern-style brunch. The golf tournament began with a shotgun start for 24 golfers on the Bluff and Island courses at noon. Following the tournament, participants enjoyed an awards ceremony in the Grille House with a special presentation from Jim Lorrain, founder of the United States Special Operations Command Care Coalition, whose military awards include the Bronze Star and Special Operations Command medal. The evening concluded with a special dinner at the Grille House prepared by the Champions Retreat Executive Chef, Doug Seaver.

“Despite less than ideal conditions for our inaugural event, the rain did not dampen the spirits and enthusiasm of those who joined us. We are honored to support our military and are grateful for the opportunity to build this event into one of the strongest in the community,” said Cameron Wiebe, general manager of Champions Retreat. “We would like to thank the Fort Gordon as well as our sponsors, Lightning Force Enterprises, Jet Foods, Club Car, Augusta Endodontics, and Reliable Equipment Rentals for their generous donations. I would also like to personally thank our community for the outpouring of support again this year.”

Champions Retreat is one of six Heritage Golf Group properties hosting an event benefitting Birdies for the Brave. Since 2008, the Heritage Golf Group Collection of golf properties has been dedicated to raising awareness and generating more than $2.6 million benefitting Birdies for the Brave.
