With four rounds in the 60s this week, Moore has now posted 23 straight sub-par scores at TPC Deere Run. Moore only recorded two bogeys, the fewest of any player in the field. Here’s a look at Moore’s fewest bogeys in a PGA TOUR tournament (four rounds). Moore entered last year’s Playoffs ranked No. 25 in the FedExCup and ended his season at 39th after the BMW Championship. Moore wins in his eighth start at the John Deere Classic. The win marks his third top-10 in the event to go along with a T8 in 2012 and T7 in 2014. Moore will compete in next week’s Wyndham Championship, site of his maiden PGA TOUR victory in 2009. Moore and wife Nichole welcomed their second child, Sullivan Meyer, on May 26, 2016. Moore collects his fifth top-10 finish of the season in his 18th start. Moore’s win at the John Deere Classic after holding the 54-hole lead, means that he also wins a new TEMPUR- Breeze bed, courtesy of Tempur-Pedic, the Official Mattress of the PGA TOUR. Moore also won a bed for one lucky fan who entered the Sleeping on the Lead Sweepstakes at TempurPedicGolf.com and a Birdies for the Brave® military member from the [insert local market] area. Martin’s runner-up marked his second top-10 in 24 starts this season. His other top-10 was a T7 effort at the Barracuda Championship. Martin came into the week having missed the cut in his two last starts (RBC Canadian Open and Travelers Championship). Martin led the field with a total 25 birdies and had the fewest putts of any player in the field (103). Martin’s third-round 62 tied his career-low round on the PGA TOUR (62–2 times, most recent 2015 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open/3) and bests his low score of the season by three (65–2 times, most recent Travelers Championship/1). Martin’s second-place finish is his best showing in three starts in the John Deere Classic, having missed the cut in 2014 and finishing T38 in 2011. Morgan Hoffmann Having gone bogey free his middle 36 holes, Morgan Hoffmann made three bogeys in his final round against three birdies for an even-par 71 to tie for third, his first top-10 in 24 starts this season. Hoffmann, who remains in search of his first PGA TOUR victory, earns his second top-three finish on the PGA TOUR. His career-best finish is a solo third-place performance at the 2013 BMW Championship. It marks his eighth career top-10 in 108 starts. With his T3 finish, Hoffmann moves to 131 in the FedExCup standings (from 160). Hoffmann, who is in the field at this week’s Wyndham Championship, is familiar with being outside of the cutline in the FedExCup standings. In 2013-14, he became the first player in history of the FedExCup Playoffs to play his way from outside of the cut line in each of the first three FedExCup Playoffs. He has qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs the last three consecutive years. Hoffmann’s third-round 62 tied his career-low round on the PGA TOUR (62–2014 BMW Championship/3) and bests his low score of the season by one (63–Sony Open in Hawaii/1). Hoffmann earns his first top-10 in four John Deere Classic starts: 2016/T3, 2014/MC, 2013/T15 and 2011/MC. Hoffmann was looking to join seven players who have picked-up their first PGA TOUR title at TPC Deere Run: Michael Clark/2000, David Gossett/2001, Mark Hensby/2004, Sean O’Hair/2005, John Senden/2006, Jordan Spieth/2013 and Brian Harman/2014. In all, the tournament has produced 20 first-time PGA TOUR winners. There have been 15 first-time winners on TOUR this season, most recently Greg Chalmers at the Barracuda Championship. Additional Player Notes In his second start at the John Deere Classic, Whee Kim (T3) tied his career-best finish on the PGA TOUR (T3/2015 Barbasol Championship). Kim played his last 48 holes without a bogey. Kim’s T3 finish earns him a spot into the Wyndham Championship field, as he attempts to stay in the top 125. He currently is at the 125th spot. In his first start as an official member of the PGA TOUR, three-time Web.com Tour winner Wesley Bryan finished T8 for his first top-10 in three career PGA TOUR starts. No player has ever won in their first PGA TOUR start following a three-win Web.com Tour promotion. Bryan, who held a share of the second-round lead, was looking to become the first player to win in their first PGA TOUR start following a three-win Web.com Tour promotion, and the second player to win a Web.com Tour event and PGA TOUR event in back-to-back weeks (Paul Stankowski/1996). In his first non-major event on the PGA TOUR, Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada player Aaron Wise finished T16, highlighted by a third-round 63. Wise helped the Oregon Ducks to their first-ever NCAA Championship in May, after capturing the Men’s Individual Championship. He then won the Syncrude Oil Country Championship in July, becoming the youngest winner in Mackenzie Tour history at the age of 20 years, 1 month, 10 days. Three-time John Deere Classic winner Steve Stricker finished T52 in his 15th start, marking his worst finish in the 13 times he made it to the weekend. With a T34 finish, Zach Johnson ended his string of five top-three finishes, which dated to a T3 in 2011. Miscellaneous Notes There were five University of Illinois alum in this week’s field: D.A. Points (MC), Steve Stricker (T52), Scott Langley (T40), Luke Guthrie (MC) and sponsor invite Charlie Danielson (T22). Of the five past champions in the field this week, only Zach Johnson and Steve Stricker made the cut. Brian Harman, John Senden and Sean O’Hair all missed the cut.
