After trailing the Mike Moss squad throughout the first half, Jacobs came to life and pulled away in the second half, winning by 66 IMPs. Playing with Jacobs were Ralph Katz and four Italians – Alfredo Versace, Lorenzo Lauria, Norberto Bocchi and George Duboin. After accepting the Spingold Trophy from ACBL President George Retek, Jacobs congratulated the Moss team for doing so well playing with only a four- man team. Moss’ teammates were Allan Graves, Bryan Maksymetz and Austrian Martin Schifko. Moss took the lead in the first quarter by 24, but Jacobs cut that to 9 in the second quarter.
