The base route of the Monte Cucco Circuit is made up of daily stages of lengths of between 15 and 20 km and hiking trails suitable for walkers with medium training and experience. 90% of the trails are on marked hiking Sport, Nature paths and unpaved, little-used roads. The Monte Cucco Complete Circuit Trail can be started at any point along the base route. Hikers arriving by train begin and end at the Fossato di Vico train station.

Principal alternative trails and circuits Sentiero dello Spirito The Spirit Trail is a 13 km circuit taking in a visit to the Fonte Avellana monastery and the Benedictine abbeys of Sitria and Sant’Emiliano in Congiuntoli.

Valle delle Prigioni The Prison Valley Trail is a 10 km circuit through the evocative landscape of the valley, a landscape model- UMBRIA led by the erosive force of the Prigioni river, with dense woodland, towering limestone rock formations, and mountain springs.
