O’Dea Fighting Irish Athletic Wall of Honor 2010 Inductees

Jeff Anderson

Jeff Anderson joined the O’Dea faculty in 1987, coaching wrestling, freshman football, and track and field. As the head wrestling coach, Anderson has since led the Fighting Irish to 16 Metro Championships, including four consecutive titles (2007-2010), and three Regional Titles. In both 2002 and 2003, Coach Anderson’s wrestling teams were named WIAA Academic State Champions. He has coached more than 20 State wrestling participants and been named Metro League Coach of the Year several times. Anderson is a graduate of Lake High School, Washington State University (BA) and Western Washington University (MA).

Charles Peterson, MD

Dr. Charles Peterson has been associated with O’Dea High School and its athletic programs since 1976, serving as team physician. He has been a member of the Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic since 1972. A native of Montana, Dr. Peterson received educational and medical degrees from Dartmouth, Yale, Cornell and Minnesota Universities, and served in residency positions at the Mayo Clinic, Virginia Mason and Hartford hospitals. He is a faithful friend, generous benefactor and loyal supporter.

Tom Schutte

Tom Schutte has led the O’Dea swimming and diving team as head coach since 1992. His teams have won ten Metro Championship titles, a District title (2007) and a State Championship (2000). Coach Schutte was named High School Swimming State Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2004, and Metro League Coach of the Year five times. Under his leadership, the O’Dea swimming and diving team has ranked in the top 25 programs of large independent schools in America. He has coached 15 Academic All-Americans, 22 All-American performances, and seven individual event State titlists. Schutte is a graduate of Omaha Creighton Prep and earned degrees in theology from St. John’s (BA) in Collegeville, MN and (MA).

Andy Slatt, Jr.

Andy Slatt, Jr. joined O’Dea in 1987, serving as a teacher, guidance counselor and athletic coach until retirement in 2009. He led his cross country teams to three Metro Championships and four District titles. As co-head coach of the track and field team, Coach Slatt’s teams won 15 Metro Titles, 12 District titles and three State Championships. He coached numerous future All-Americans and traveled with several teams on goodwill trips to China. Slatt is a graduate of Shorecrest High School, Central Washington University (BA) and Seattle University (Med). He also served in the U.S. Army Special Forces and Army Reserve in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
