Sevastopol, Crimea 1 and 2 RS 1854-56. British memorial on Battlefield to which the Regiment contributed. Ownership of the land disputed and Memorial not in good repair. A proposal to replace with a new Memorial was placed on hold as a result of the Russian annexation of the Crimea.

Trimulgherry, India 1RS 1922-25. A suburb of Secunderabad, N of Hyderabad, Central India. Thistle April 1928 p464.

Virgin Trains. In September 1914, to mark the centenary of the start of WW1, Virgin Trains named one of their engines on the East Coast line between Edinburgh Waverley and Kings Cross London ‘For the Fallen’. The specially painted train carried the cap badges of five Regiments whose recruiting areas the route passed through, one of which was The Royal Scots. It also had a painting of LCpl Jim Boyd 16RS, and a Hearts player, together with the last Field Message Card he sent home, on the side. Thistle Winter 2014/15.
