TITLE: Aircraft Maintenance Engine Run-up Areas

I. References:

A. Code of Regulations (COMAR) 11.03.02.02N, "Starting and Running Aircraft Engines."

B. This Directive supersedes Martin State Tenant Directive 200.2, dated April 1, 2004.

II. Directive Statement:

Aircraft engine maintenance run-ups are to be accomplished only in the areas designated by the Manager, Martin State Airport for this purpose.

III. Procedures:

A. Aircraft engine maintenance run-ups are permitted only in areas designated on the attached map. These areas are defined as:

1. Taxiway Alpha at the entrance to the J-line. Use as much of the J-line entrance as necessary to allow the passage of other aircraft on Taxiway Alpha. Aircraft heading should be 100 degrees to avoid prop wash/jet blast towards the hangars and parked aircraft.

2. Circular run-up pad adjacent to Taxiway “C” and Taxiway “T” for use by the Maryland ONLY.

3. Engine testing area, behind the noise barrier, for use by the Maryland Air National Guard ONLY.

4. Taxiway Tango short of the ILS critical area. Aircraft heading indication MUST be 150 degrees or 330 degrees.

5. The Strawberry Point Ramp; Baltimore County Police/ aircraft ONLY.

6. Adjacent to South within the helicopter parking area. (Helicopters Only).

B. No aircraft engine(s) may be run up for maintenance purposes at the airport between the hours of 2000L and 0800L without the prior approval of the Manager, Martin State Airport. Permission may be granted or denied depending on the type of aircraft, the duration of the run-up, and the necessity of running up the engine(s) after hours.

C. An aircraft shall not be left unattended with engine(s) running.
