The IUPUI Student Activity Office in the Union Building has been designated a branch of the Student Flight Office of I.U.-Bloomington. IUPUI students, staff and faculty and their immediate families are eligible to travel on all trips arranged by the travel agency.

Mrs. Helen Zapp, head of the office here, said that passport applications, information and arrangements for flights, and such incidentals as car rentals, can be arranged through her office.

Besides the planned charter and group trips, persons with special travel requests can discuss arrangements with the office. A group going to a convention, for example, might well use the facilities, she said.

Spring Break (Bloomington Schedule), Indianapolis-Acupulco, $229 round trip includes tax and accommodations, Mar~h 10-18.

One of Green Sheet's numerous offspring, the IUPUI mailing list, is moving from the News Bureau to the 38th Street Campus, where it will live in the office of the Assistant to the Dean for Administrative Affairs, Ronald Hunt.

Bad Check Ruling -- At their August meeting, the I.U. Board of Trustees approved increasing the charge for dishonored checks from $2 to $5 per check, effective September 1, 1972. Further approval was given for declaring a student "not enrolled" if a check in payment of fees is dishonored.

Gaga -- Tune in to thii'IUPUI Magazine on WIAN-FM radio (90.1 Mb. on your dial) this week to hear Mrs. Anita DeFralt\, instructor in speech pathology, talk about the grammar of baby talk. It will be broadcast Friday at 8 p.m., Sunday at "ij30 p.m. and Wednesday (September 13) at 4:30 p.m. The News Bur~u's Richard R~ is the interviewer. New Face in Print Shop -- T.E. (Tom) Alberd~g has ac>J'pted the position as supervisor of the Print Shop in Riley Hospital. He replaces Bea D~y who retired this summer. Alberding asks that you come in and get acquainted and reminds you that the Print Shop, as well as the other two Duplicating Centers (Law School and 38th Street~ are here to serve you.

Speaking of Duplicating Centers -- After careful cost analysis, the charge rates for services performed by the Duplicating Centers at 38th Street and the Law School have been revised. Some rates went down, some up and some stayed the same. You can, for instance, get 500 copies of something on 8 1/2 x 11 paper for either $2.60 or $2.04, depending on whether you use Duplicating Center ·paper or your own. Other services include hole-punching, folding, cutting and trimming, stapling, etc. These rates are considerably lower than those now charged by other universities for similar services. (A similar rate study is now under way for services at the Riley Print Shop.)

( Nursing Note -- The--rjU. Board of Trustees .approved (at its April meeting) the appointment of Miss Magdalene Fu:t'ier as professor and assistant dean in the School of Nursing. The appointment was effective July 1.

Churchill ·Grants -- The scholarship competition for the Winston Churchill Foundation of the U.S. Ltd. has opened. The fellowships offered annually by the foundation provide an ·opportunity for American students from 20 U.S. universities to pursue graduate work in science, mathematics or engineering at Churchill College, Cambridge University, England. Applicants are screened by a committee convened by the National Academy of Science. . The deadline for completed applications is November 15.

Nominations Are Open -- National Medals of Science are awarded annually by the President to individuals "deserving of special recognition by reason of their outstanding.contributions to knowledge in the physical, biological, mathematical, or engineering sciences." Dr. Doris H. Merritt, associate dean for research and advanced studies, is the person to contact for further information. She's in the Chancellor's Building, Ext. 8287. Heb~in, whose career covered almost the entire history of Indiana University in Indianapolis, has been honored with an appointment of Associate Professor Emeritus in English at IUPUI. Mrs. Heberlein retired last year after a 43-year career which began in 1926 when she was hired as office assistant for the first director of the Indiana University Indianapolis Center. For two years in the mid-1920$ she was director of the center as it grew into the Downtown Campus. Mrs. Heberlein was appointed assistant professor of English in 1963 in Shakespeare and British literature. A native of Indianapolis, she earned her bachelor and master of arts degrees from I.U. A plaque in the office of James R. Eas~associate dean of the Downtown Campus, testifies to his recent recognition as "Outstanding Alumnus of 1971" by the Indianapolis Boys' Clubs Alumni Association.

The IUPUI Staff and Faculty Affairs Connnittees have negotiated a plan for diners' member­ ships at the Athenaeum for members of the staffs and faculties. The two committees have the club's guarantee that discrimination by race, religion, or sex will not be practiced~

The $20 diner's membership (payable annually or quarterly) includes dining room privileges and parking privileges in the club's lot at Massachusetts and Street (25 cents upon presentation of a membership card). Members will also be able to charge their bills on BankAmericard and Mid-West charge cards and they will be able to reserve rooms for private parties.
