ONE-ACT PLAYS SHOWCASE RPHS TALENT

Our annual One-Act Play Festival was held on 17 August. The evening was a huge success leaving the audience in stitches, tears and wonder.

All four plays focused on an array of relationship dynamics in an immensely creative way. Wholeheartedly explored the severity of Alzheimer’s disease and the effect it has on people’s relationships, with emphasis on the peculiar relationship between two men – a young university student and an old man. was a beautifully executed rendition of a famous South African play about the forced removal of people during Apartheid. Alias Cinderella was a hilarious twist on the traditional Cinderella story, featuring a con artist as “Cinderella”. The Line explored the different relationships between people and their connections in a stunning, contemporary and creative way. The adjudicators had a hard time deciding on the evening’s winners but eventually made the following awards:

DEBUTANTES 2018 REACH THEIR GOAL

The Debs of 2018 celebrated the achievement of their fundraising goals on Saturday evening at the glittering Debs Ball which took place at Mount Usambara. Collectively, the net income raised for the school over the past 12 months exceeded R1 million. Congratulations to our Debs, their parents, Mrs Farquhar, Mrs Stansell, Mrs Viviers and Mrs Küpper on an outstanding effort.

Best Speakers’ Evening Qualifiers Eisteddfod Performance

Learners were invited to audition for the Best Dates: Speech and Drama Speakers’ Evening. Grade 8 and 9 auditions were held on 13 August and the Grade 10 and Eisteddfod performances start on 31 August. 11 learners auditioned on 14 August. 2019 LEADERS APPOINTED

Our 2019 Leaders were appointed last Friday at a special assembly held specifically to announce the new appointees and to say farewell to the old Leaders. The new Leaders took the oath of service and pledged their commitment to their duties for the leadership term. This was followed by the traditional Tie Ceremony which took place on Tuesday, 21 August and was attended by the new Leaders’ parents. Each Leader received their symbolic tie which is worn as part of the school uniform. We wish our Leaders every success in their final year of service at Rand Park High.
