The latest GDT auction, event 237, concluded with the GDT price index down 3.4%, marking the most significant drop in the index in the past 8 auctions, with only Rennet Casein bucking the downward trend. On the demand side, butterfat pricing has weakened in the EU and has now declined significantly on the world market. Protein has remained firmer but in general demand is sluggish and remains dogged by the dark clouds of political risk and trade disputes, which continue to hang on the horizon.
