The above self-assessments by Gwynedd Secondary Schools show that there are 4 different social use patterns in use, namely: 1. Pattern where the is the only language used socially, such as at Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen, Ysgol Brynrefail, Ysgol Dyffryn Ogwen 2. Pattern where the Welsh language is the most commonly used language socially, such as at Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle, Ysgol Tryfan, Ysgol Glan y M ôr, Ysgol Botwnnog, Ysgol y Moelwyn and Ysgol y Berwyn. 3. Pattern where mixed/varied social use is made of Welsh/English at schools such as Ysgol Ardudwy, Ysgol Eifionydd and Ysgol y Gader. 4. Pattern where English is used wholly/mostly as the social language at schools such as Ysgol Friars (and ysgol Tywyn). 5. As Ysgol Ardudwy has not elaborated on some questions it is not possible to identify the social language use Socially, therefore, the pupils of Ysgol y Gader fall within the pattern of mixed/varied use of the language.
