BELLEVUE SCHOOL DISTRICT – METRO TRANSPORTATION / ORCA CARDS – AUGUST 2017

BSD utilizes METRO for eligible High School, International School and Big Picture School student transportation to and from school. BSD issues NEW ORCA Cards to ALL eligible students every year. New cards will be available at each school’s Back to School Orientation Days in August, as well as at BSD Transportation Office starting in August. These cards will be Activated and ready to use starting the first day of school, 31 August 2017. Eligible students will be required to turn in the attached Application Form to receive a BSD funded ORCA Card. Utilize King County METRO website: http://tripplanner.kingcounty.gov to help find the best route for your child. Remember to enter a school day and time when searching for a route. In addition to regular METRO routes, BSD contracts with METRO to provide transportation from METRO deficit neighborhoods. These 800 series METRO Routes provide supplemental service from Metro deficit neighborhoods to High Schools as well as International School/Big Picture School each morning, but in the afternoons are only able to service High Schools and not International or Big Picture Schools. 823 Hilltop/Somerset area to NHS Metro will operate an additional RT 246 from NHS over Somerset to EGP&R at 3:40 pm. 824 Forest Drive area to NHS 886 118th Ave SE/Mercer Slough area to BHS 887 Newport Hills area to NHS 888 West Lake Sammamish area to IHS 889 Bridal Trails area to SHS After dropping at the High Schools each morning these METRO buses go to International School where a yellow school bus shuttle will transport students to Big Picture School.

BSD provides the following Yellow School Bus service to supplement the service Metro is able to provide:

Big Picture students who ride Metro to International School each morning will be able to catch BSD Route 53 (see below) from International to Big Picture School.

A BSD Yellow school bus will supplement regular Metro service for International School and Big Picture School students in the afternoon. The yellow school buses will only make limited stops. Afternoon BSD Yellow School Bus service for International School and Big Picture School students has been changed to more closely align with the services provided to other BSD Choice Schools, with stops only at centralized locations.
