Red Sox at Tigers lineup: Not just another game The Red Sox look to break out of a pronounced funk, one that has sent them into second place and shattered some of the mystique of this otherwise dreamy season, when they head to Detroit to take on the AL Central’s third-place Tigers behind Garrett Richards (7:10 p.m., NESN, MLBN out-of-network). Last week was… bad. The Sox may have biffed the trade deadline, and they certainly lost four straight games to teams they can’t really afford to lose to. Fortunately, the Tigers are not as beefy as the Blue Jays or Rays. Unfortunately, Garrett Richards in on the hill for the Red Sox. He’s not good these days, so the Tigers will present a challenge. Sorry not sorry and all, if you want objectivity read the Globe or something. We’re jerks over here! The Red Sox took until 6:30 to release their lineup, apparently due to Matt Barnes going on the COVID-19 list, and it was very dumb for something that was known hours earlier.
