General Business President's Report It is with great pleasure that I present the President’s Report for the 2013/2014 season. Season 13/14 was another successful one for the Club. A Club Championship, all teams( bar one) reaching Semi-Finals and managing to win some silverware from all three cricket associations in Newcastle goes some way to show the great effort that was put in by all our players. Following on from last season’s success in the NJCA competitions we once again took out the Club Championship; back to back wins is an outstanding achievement. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, managers and parents involved. The 4th grade team came first in the NDCA competition and the D1 side won their final in the C&S competition. Special mention goes to the very talented Will Davis on winning the NJCA Player of the Year award; also to Michael Wilkinson on winning the NDCA 3rd grade bowling award. The Milo In2Cricket program was again a huge success; our thanks to Tom Anderson and all who were involved with it. The two English imports, Mitch Claydon and Alexei Kervezee, made great contributions on the field for the 1st grade side and helped lift them from last to fifth on the ladder.

The Great Game: The rise of Afghan cricket from exodus and war Author : Kate Clark Published: 28 March 2017 Downloaded: 5 September 2018 Download URL: https://www.afghanistan-analysts.org/the-great-game-the-rise-of-afghan-cricket-from-exodus-and-war/?format=pdf Afghanistan continues to make inroads into the world of cricket. The men’s team has progressed from being a disorganised band of reckless hitters of the ball in the early 2000s to a well-balanced team. Two Afghans recently got contracts to play in the biggest cricket league in the world, the Indian Premier League, with deals worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. AAN’s cricket-loving Sudhanshu Verma and ‘not very interested in cricket’ Kate Clark look at how, in two decades, Afghan men have come to compete with the big boys of the game. Afghan women’s cricket, though, they say, has barely begun. For any reader who finds cricket something of a mystery, a brief description of how the game works can be found in an Appendix. For readers interested in sport generally, they might also like to read our reports on Afghan football, brought together in a dossier here. 18-year-old Afghan national team player, Rashid Khan, was in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, playing for Afghanistan in a One Day International series on 20 February 2017, when bidding for 1 / 13 the Indian Premier League (1) began. The IPL is the biggest, richest cricket league in the world, watched by millions and attracting the world’s top players. Every year before the season starts, the eight IPL teams bid for new players.

  • Inter-Provincial Series 2018 Player Eligibility & Squad
INTER-PROVINCIAL SERIES 2018 PLAYER ELIGIBILITY & SQUAD SELECTION POLICY 1. BACKGROUND/CONTEXT 1.1 With the Inter-Provincial Series now carrying First-Class and List-A status, the need to ensure that player eligibility is both clear, and adhered to, remains important, and maintaining the integrity of the competitions is key, given that ICC retains the authority to remove First-Class/List-A status from same at any time. 1.2 The Inter-Provincial Series (First Class, One day 50 over and Twenty20) is designed to provide a bridge between club and country and to ensure players have the opportunity to compete in a ‘best v best’ environment. It is crucial to the succession planning of the Irish team. Therefore players identified by the national selectors as potential future International cricketers are given the opportunity to play in the Inter-Provincial Series. Where there is a significant strength of such players in one provincial union, we must ensure players are able to develop by playing in the IP competition perhaps for another union. 1.3 The series is also important for the individual provincial unions as a way of raising the profile of the sport, providing opportunities for their best club cricketers, helping to underpin the growth of the sport, and underpinning commercial activities of the unions. ELIGIBILITY REGULATIONS Depending on the status of the player concerned, the following eligibility criteria will apply: 2.0 NATIONALITY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA 2.1 A Player shall be qualified to participate in an Inter-Provincial Match where he satisfies at least one of the following requirements (the “Nationality Qualification Criteria”): NOTE: The relevant information and documentation required to evidence satisfaction of the Nationality Qualification Criteria must be provided to CI at least 7 days prior to the player playing in an Inter-Provincial match.
