WERSTAS FINNISH LABOUR MUSEUM

The history of ordinary people is showcased in the exhibitions of the Werstas Finnish Labour Museum. Entry to the museum is always free of charge. At Werstas, objects relating to workers’ lives, their work and machinery are on display, as well as a huge steam engine. At Werstas, the visitor can become acquainted with the development of Finnish society from the workers’ perspective.

Werstas is located in the Finlayson district. WELCOME TO THE MUSEUM Groups free of charge: All groups consisting of immigrants led by teachers or group leaders qualify for free admission to the museum. The groups must notify the museum of their arrival in advance. The free visits do not apply to individuals, but only to groups. WHAT IS A MUSEUM? Museums conserve old objects, photos or works of art and collect information on present day events. The TAITE Cultural Education Unit organises guided tours at the museum and events for people of all ages. The services are usually free of charge.

TAITE also organises voluntary activities. You may ask for a volunteer culture companion to come along with you to acquaint yourself with e.g. museums, libraries, a city gym or to go for a walk, all free of charge. With a volunteer you have a free access to the museums.
