Traffic Control Room T R A F F I C R E G U L A T I O N S No. : TP / 31, Dated : 04.10.2018 Whereas it is necessary in the interest of public safety and convenience in connection with the MAHALAYA festival on 08.10.2018, I, Rajeev Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, in exercise of powers vested in me under Section 115, 116, 117, 122 & 126 M V Act, 1988 and Section 62, 62(1b) of Calcutta Police Act.,1866, 39, 39(1b) of Calcutta Suburban Police Act, 1866, read with Rule No. 85, 86, 87, 88 & 93 of Rules for the Regulations of Traffic in Kolkata and its Suburbs and under sub- section(1) of Section 4 of the West Bengal Traffic Regulations Act, 1965 (W B Act XV of 1965) read with Govt. of West Bengal Home (Transport) Department Order No. 7605-WT, dated the 20th July, 1965 and Govt. of West Bengal Transport Department Notification No. 3363-WT/3M-34/99, dated the 29th April, 1999, do hereby order that movement of vehicles shall be regulated between 04.00 hrs and 14.00 hrs in the following manner notwithstanding any other orders in force on 08.10.2018. 1) No Goods Vehicles will be allowed to move along Strand Road and St Georges Gate Road between Raja Woodmunt Street and Hastings crossings from 04.00 hrs to 16.00 hrs on 08.10.2018. 2) No Goods Vehicles will be allowed to move towards north from the following road intersections: a) Rabindra Sarani and K K Tagore Street crossing (near Ganesh Talkies). b) Vivekananda Road and C R Avenue crossing (near Girish Park). c) Grey Street and B K Pal Avenue crossing. d) Manicktala crossing. e) Rabindra Sarani and B K Pal Avenue crossing. f) Grey Street and Raja Dinendra Street crossing. g) Galiff Street and Bidhan Sarani crossing. h) Beliaghata Road and AJC Bose Road crossing. i) Strand Road and K K Tagore Street crossing. j) B T Road and Raja Manindra Road crossing. k) B T Road and Dum Dum Road crossing. l) B T Road and Kashinath Dutta Road crossing (Sinthi More). m) Cossipore Road and Khagen Chatterjee Road crossing. n) Khirod Bidhya Binod Avenue and Galiff Street crossing. o) C R Avenue and New CIT Road crossing. 3) (a) Goods Vehicles from Posta Market Complex will be diverted along K K Tagore Street, Kalakar Street, M G Road thereafter C R Avenue. Similarly, Goods Vehicles from Beliaghata, Entally, Sealdah side can take either AJC Bose Road, S N Banerjee Road and move through Dufferin Road, Khidderpore Road towards Vidya Sagar Setu. (b) Goods Vehicles from Bantala / Tiljala areas will be diverted along No. 4 Rly Bridge, New Park Street, Circus Avenue, AJC Bose Road and move along Vidya Sagar Setu. 4) All vehicles, except the vehicles carrying devotees, will be diverted from Clyde Road and Commissariat Road crossing and Clyde Road and St. Georges Road crossing towards Kidderpore Road and thence Vidyasagar Setu. 5) Goods Vehicles may also be diverted from any of the arterial roads by the Traffic Police on duty as and when considered necessary to prevent them moving towards north along B T Road and Cossipore Road and along Strand Bank Road, Strand Road, St Georges Gate Road, especially nearly the Bathing Ghats of the Ganges within the city from 04.00 hrs to 16.00 hrs on 08.10.2018. 6) Auckland Road will be closed from Govt. Place (W) for all types of vehicles. 7) Kingsway will be closed for all types of vehicles from Plassey Gate Road crossing, except devotees vehicles. 8) These regulations will come into force in addition to the other normal restrictions on the day, which are not repugnant to above.     Urban Wastewater: Livelihoods, Health and Environmental Impacts in India: The Case of the East Calcutta Wetlands Principal Investigator Gautam Gupta Department of Economics Jadavpur University Kolkata 700 032 Objectives: Identify the livelihood options in and around East Calcutta Wetlands based on use of Urban Wastewater Estimate the value of Direct benefits derived from the use of Urban Wastewater by the stakeholders in ECW Health Impacts of Urban Wastewater on Stake holders Environmental impact of ECW on Stakeholders Geographical Features of ECW The wetlands to the East of Kolkata, well known over the world, situated in between 22°25´- 22°40´ N latitude and 88°20´-88°35´E longitude and covering the area of about 12,500 ha. It has a hot and humid monsoon climate governed by the Himalayas in the north and the Bay of Bengal in the south January is the coolest month with temperatures ranging between 10°C to 20°C while May experiences maximum temperature ranging between 30°C and 40°C Average relative humidity is high between 70 percent and 90 percent approximately. Average annual rainfall is about 1582 mm and is mainly concentrated in the months of June, July, August and September. Hydrology of East Calcutta Wetlands Sewage is largely water but it contains organic and inorganic solids in dissolved and suspended forms. Major bacteria accompanying these solids are coliform A major problem in the hydrology of East Calcutta Wetlands, is arsenic. The percentage of arsenic which is considered safe for consumption is 10mg/litre as estimated by WHO. However in the northern limits of greater Kolkata, in the areas like Bhangar, Kharibari, Rajarhat, Bishnupur I and II, Gangra, Mahisbathan II the levels of arsenic has been found to be 10-15mg/litre.
