Annual Report of KSLU’s Law School for the academic year 2018-19

The Law School under the leadership of the University has been taking steps towards achievement of academic excellence by organizing and involving itself in academic, co- curricular, extra-curricular activities.

 Inauguration of Students Union & Gymkhana Activities:

The Students Union, Gymkhana, NSS and sports Activities for the year 2018-19 was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjeev Kulkarni, Gynecologist and Sustainable Farmer, Dharwad on 25th Sept.2018.

The entire year was significant for the Law School as it broadened access to legal education. A series of special lectures on emerging areas were organized to expand the horizons of knowledge base of students and faculty.

 Endowment Lecture: Late Sri. L. G. Havanur Endowment Lecture on “Outlining the Idea of Constitutional Morality in Indian Jurisprudence” delivered by Hon'ble Mr. Justice S. Abdul Nazeer,Judge, Supreme Court of India was held on 16thMarch 2019 . Hon'ble Mr. Justice L. Narayan Swamy Acting Chief Justice Karnataka High court, Bengaluru, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Dixit Krishna Prasad, Judge Karnataka High court, Dharwad, Prof. Ravivarma Kumar, Senior Advocate & Former, Advocate General, Bengaluru shared his experiences. Prof. (Dr.) P. Ishwara Baht, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, KSLU, Hubballi delivered the Presidential remarks. Family members of Sri. L.G. Havanur, syndicate members, principals of affiliated colleges, faculty, invitees, non-teaching staff, advocates and students of Law School were present.

 Legal Touch-Stone-4:

The Law School committed for the cause of facilitating overall development of the students has conducted Legal Touch Stone-4, an event only for the law students, comprising of Client Interviewing Competition, Seminar, Debate Competition and Cultural activities for the students. It was held on 25thApril 2019. Shri K. B. Naik, Chairman, Karnataka State Bar Council, Bangalore inaugurated the Law fest.

 Sports: KSLU’s Law School has been promoting and encouraging the students of all the affiliated law colleges to take part in various sports events. Students of KSLU’s Law School participated in the following intercollegiate tournaments organized by affiliated law colleges of KSLU for the academic year 2018-19.

1) Team Participated in Volleyball Men intercollegiate tournament cum selection trials held at Al-Ameen College of Law, Bengaluru on 11th& 12th September 2018. 2) Team Participated in Cross Country Men intercollegiate tournament cum selection trials held at R.L. Law College, Davanagere on 19th September 2018. 3) Team Participated in Table Tennis Men and Women intercollegiate tournament cum selection trials held atRamaiah College of Law, Bengaluru on 28th&29th September 2018. 4) Team Participated in Badminton Men and Women intercollegiate tournament cum selection trials held at BLDE’s Law College, Jamakandi on 11th&12th October 2018. Women team Secured Third place.

5) Team Participated in Chess Men intercollegiate tournament cum selection trials held at SCAB Law College, Raichur on 2nd& 3rd November 2018. Men team Secured First place. 6) Students Participated in Individual Selection Trials (Men and Women) held at KSLU, Hubballi at R.N. Shetty Stadium, Dharwad on 27th October 2018. 7) Team Participated in Cricket Men intercollegiate tournament held at G. K. Law College, Hubballi from 11th to 14th April 2019. 8) 9thKSLU’s Law School Annual Sports were held in all indoor and outdoor games for both Boys and Girls. 9) Four of our Law School Students Represented Karnataka State law University in South Zone and All India Inter University tournaments.

Under the able guidance and dynamic leadership of our Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) P. Ishwara Bhat and able assistance by our Registrar, Registrar (Eva.)I/C. and equally supported by Prof.(Dr.) C. S. Patil, Dean and Director, KSLU’s Law School, the University and the Law School are marching ahead to create a mark and distinction in the field of legal education.
