NJROTC Area Manager Inspection NJROTC received its annual Area Manager's Inspection on Thursday, September 19 from retired Navy Commander Joe Hankins from Naval Service Training Command (NSTC). The unit underwent a detailed six-hour supply, administration, curriculum, uniform and drill inspection, receiving outstanding marks in all areas. The cadet battalion staff, lead by Cadet Battalion Commander Katrina Fjeld spent nearly two hours briefing CDR Hankins on the program, its accomplishments and goals. Each cadet stood for a military style inspection, demonstrating proper uniform wear and answering knowledge questions.

The battalion finished the day presenting a Pass-in-Review military parade in the gym attended by fellow students, parents, teachers and administrators. CDR Hankins presented a Cadet Superior Achievement Award to Cadet Katrina Fjeld, twenty-five awards for outstanding uniform inspection results and letters of appreciation to Mr. Wix, Mrs. Board and Mrs. Freeman. The overall inspection results will be reviewed by Admiral Sands at NSTC. CDR Hankins left Greenwood saying that our Cadet Battalion Staff was the best he has seen and that it was a great day.

Greenwood will offer the ASVAB on November 20 to any 10-12 grade student. The ASVAB can be used to help students through their results to find best match career options for them. The test is normally used as a military aptitude test; however, we will not be releasing scores to the military. We will be using this as a career test for students and the best part is that the test is FREE! Terrance Williams, Physical Education & Coach Originally from Memphis, TN, Mr. Terrance Williams is new to Greenwood this year, as a Physical Education/Health teacher. He will also be our Assistant boys varsity/Head freshman boys basketball coach. A 2001 graduate of Jackson Central Merry High School and Western Kentucky University, he has taught a total of two years so far. He says some of his biggest influences in his childhood and teen years were coaches and his older brother. He saw how coaches impacted students from his home area, keeping them off the streets and away from trouble, while he was growing up and wanted to have that type of impact on the youth as well. His dream would be to coach and teach in an inner city school and be able to show those students, as well as all students, the type of future they can have by simply making the right decisions in life. “Greenwood is teaching me every day how awesome learning can be for students and teachers alike, if the culture is conducive to success”.

Coach Williams has been married for 8 years to his wife, Amanda. They have a 14-year-old daughter, Brittney, a seven-year-old daughter Brelynn (pictured), and a two-year-old son Kason (pictured). They also have a cat named mao mao. Outside of school, he enjoys working out, listening to music, and studying up on amazing individuals like Jim Valvano and Anfernee Hardaway. His wife is a nurse working at St. Thomas in Nashville. Most Memorable Coaching Moment: “Having two players overcome their life situations and play collegiate basketball.” Favorite Sports Team: Any and everything Memphis. GTG!! Favorite Food: Hot Dogs Favorite Movie: Avengers End Game. Favorite Quote: “So it’s gonna be forever or it’s gonna go down in flames” - Tay Tay
