A message from the Mayor of the Village of East Syracuse Robert T. Tackman Wow, I can’t believe the summer season is over already. I know it’s hard to think that in just a few weeks leaves will be falling with snow to follow. To help you and your family transition from the summer to fall/winter we have arrange several exciting events! I am really excited for some of our annual events to occur again such as our Fall Festival, the Village Tree Lighting ceremony and our House Lighting Contest to name a few. We have some new events kicking off this season as well starting with Family Day at Pumpkin Hallow. Our Parks and Recreation Department has worked hard to keep the schedule full so please check out this packet, our website, www.villageofeastsyracuse.com and follow me on facebook at www.facebook.com/RobertTTackman. Detailed itineraries for the following programs are available at the Village office (204 N Center Street and at the Village of East Syracuse Web Site. (www.Villageofeastsyracuse.com).

BIKE HELMET GIVEAWAY - The Village Office (204 n Center Street) will be handing out free helmets for children in the Village! (Mon – Fri, 8:00 – 4:00 pm). There are several different styles and sizes available. To receive a helmet, children need their parent/guardian to provide proof of Village residence. Helmets are available while supplies last.

AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES – On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:00 – 3:45 afterschool activities will be offered for youth at Ellis Field Park. Programs will start on Tuesday, September 25th – Thursday, October 25th. Tuesday: Kickball, Archery etc. and Thursdays – Arts & crafts. PUMPKIN HALLOW FAMILY DAY – will be offered on Saturday, October 6th. No transportation offered. Recreation staff will be at Pumpkin Hallow (3735 W. Seneca Tnpk) beginning at 10:30 am. Cost is $5 for VR and $7 for NR – includes Wagon ride, Pumpkin, cider & donut, Corn Maze, interact with farm animals, hay jump and corn barn.

3rd Annual Fall Festival Saturday, October 13th

Join The Village of East Syracuse for the 3rd Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 13th from 11:00 – 2:00 pm at East Syracuse Elementary School Field. Events include a Chili Cook-off, Wagon hay rides, pony rides, musical Entertainment by The Noisy Boys, several big trucks, Kiddy games, cider and donuts, pumpkins, bounce house, caramel apples, temporary tattoos.

HALLOWEEN PARTY – Will be offered on Wednesday, October 31st from 2:30 – 5:00. We will meet at the East Syracuse Elementary gymnasium at 2:30. There will be games and arts & Crafts. At 4:00 we will parade from ESE to the East Syracuse Municipal Building, 204 N Center Street. There will be a costume contest as well as donuts and cider. Children will be picked up at Municipal Building at 5:00 pm. Free.

FAMILY BOWLING NIGHT- Will be offered on Sunday, November 4th at Bowl Mores Lanes in East Syracuse from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Cost is $7.00 for VR, $10 for NR –includes bowling, shoes, slice of pizza and drink. Pre-registration and payment required HOLLYWOOD MOVIE THEATER – Will be offered on Tuesday, November 6th (No School). Movie (TBA) will begin at 11:00 am. Cost is $5 includes admission to movie, Popcorn and refreshment. No Transportation offered. Rec Staff will be at Theater at 10:30. We will have reserved group seating.

SYRACUSE CRUNCH NIGHT – Join the Village of East Syracuse on Sunday, November 11th for a Hockey Game. Cost is $12 for VR & $16 for NR. Includes ticket to game. No bus transportation offered. Game is 5:00 pm. Pre-registration & payment required.

INCREDIBLES 2 - FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT – Will be offered on Friday, November 16th at the East Syracuse Municipal Building beginning at 6:00 Includes popcorn and refreshments .Bring your pillows and blankets. Cost: Free.

YOUTH BUMPER BOWLING TOURNAMENT - Will be offered on Wednesday, November 21st for youth ages 4 – 11 at Bowl Mor Lanes. Cost is $6.00: includes 2 games bowling & shoes (Bumper bowling for all ages) Trophies awarded in each age group, boys & girls. Tourney begins at 9:30 (check in begins at 9:00 am) Payment will be made directly to Bowl Mor lanes on day of event.

KIDS KARATE PROGRAM (ages 3 and up) – This a Great way to try a new activity. Learn the basics of Karate and practical self-defense skills. Held on Fridays, October 5 – 26 from 5:30 – 6:00 pm (3& 4 year olds) and 6:15 – 7:00 pm (5 years and older) at CNY Karate (2944 Erie Blvd. East, Syracuse, NY. Cost is $49.00 (includes uniform). HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING MONDAY, DECEMBER 3rd

Join in the holiday celebration at the East Syracuse Municipal Building. The festivities will begin at 6:00pm on Monday, December 3rd and will include carolers from East Syracuse Elementary School, a lighting ceremony, arts & crafts, snacks & refreshments and a surprise visitor. Bring the entire family out for a night of fun! Free!!!!

HOUSE LIGHTING CONTEST MONDAY, DECEMBER 10TH

Representatives from the Village of East Syracuse will be judging homes decorated for the Holidays on Monday, December 10th beginning at 7:00 pm. If would like to enter your house, fill out registration form on the village website or pick up form at Village office. Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 winners as follows. 1st prize - $50.00 gift card Home Depot, 2nd prize - $30.00 Wegmans Gift card, 3rd prize - $20.00 Dunkin Donuts Gift Card

LETTER TO SANTA- Here is a great opportunity for your children to receive a letter from Santa. Children can e-mail or send a letter to Santa @Villageofeastsyracuse.com or Santa Claus, North Pole, 204 N. Center St, East Syracuse, NY 13057 beginning on December 1st.

CHRISTMAS MOVIE NIGHT -Will be offered on Friday, December 14th at the East Syracuse Municipal Building beginning at 6:00 pm Wear your pajamas and bring your pillows and blankets. Enjoy hot chocolate and cookies. Movie TBA. Cost is Free. Pre- registration required.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA- Join the Recreation Dept. for Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 15th at the Heman Street Apt Community Room (121 E Hemans St) from 9:15 – 11:15 am. Cost is $3.50 /person or $12.00 per family. Includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk, coffee, picture with Santa, crafts. Pre-registration and payment required.

Family Snow Tubing - Will be offered at Four Season Ski Resort on Thursday, December 27th from 12:00 – Cost is $12.00 for Village Residents and $16.00 for Non Residents. No transportation offered. Recreation staff will be at four seasons beginning at 10:30 am . Tubing begins at 11:00 am. Pre-registration and payment required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. INTRAMURALS & PIZZA PARTY- Join the East Syracuse Parks & Recreation Dept. and ESE Physical Education Teacher Steve Graham for a day of your favorite gym games on Friday, December 28th. Program runs from 10:00- 12:30 pm at East Syracuse Elementary. Cost is $5.00 which includes pizza & refreshments. Open to children grades 1 – 5. Payments will be made directly to Steve Graham on the day of event – DISNEY ON ICE “WORLD OF ENCHANTMENT” – A bus will be offered to Disney on Ice at the Syracuse On-Center on Thursday, 13th. The bus will depart Heman Street Apts at 6:00 pm. Cost is $20.00 – for Village residents and $22.00 for Non Residents - includes bus transportation and ticket to show -section 119. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration & payment is required. ELF THE MUSICAL- A bus will be offered to the Syracuse Stage on Wednesday, December 26th for the musical “Elf the Musical”. Bus will depart Heman St School at 1:15. Show starts at 2:00 pm. Cost is $33 for adults, $35 Non-resident & $25 for children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration with payment is required. Day Trips & Events The following day trips will be offered for adults 21 years of older. You may register for trips at the Village office, 204 N Center Street, Mon – Fri (8:00 – 4:00). Payment is required at time of sign up. There will detailed itineraries available at the Village Office. Spots on trips are limited so do not delay in registering. Buses will depart from Bennett Manor & Heman Street apts.

BEAK AND SKIFF- A Bus trip will be offered on Tuesday, October 2nd to Beak and Skiff Apple Orchards. Cost is $13.00 for Village residents and $15.00 for Non-residents. Includes lunch at Finally Ours Diner, wagon ride to orchards, small bag of apples and cider & donuts.

TIOGA DOWNS – A bus trip will be offered on Thursday, October 18th to the Tioga Downs Casino. Cost is $25.00 for Village Residents and $30.00 for Non –residents. Includes $30.00 in free play and $10.00 food credit, bingo on the bus, Motor-coach transportation.

THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON- Join the Village of East Syracuse for a Thanksgiving day meal on Wednesday, November 14th at Heman Street Apt. Cost is $3.00 (paid to peace inc at door).Cost includes Turkey dinner, bingo and musical entertainment.

USAF BAND-A bus trip will be offered on Thursday, November 15th to see the United States Air Force Band at the Syracuse Setnor Auditorium. Cost is free, includes admission and school bus transportation. Show begins at 8:00 pm. DEL LAGO CASINO- Join the Village of East Syracuse on Tuesday, November 29th for a day out at the Del Lago Casino. Cost is $18.00 for Village residents and $20.00 for Non-residents. Cost includes Motor-coach transportation, $20.00 in free play (subject to Change).

LIGHTS ON LAKE - The Village of East Syracuse’s annual trip to Lights on Lake will be on Thursday, December 6th. Cost is $2.00 for Village residents and $4.00 for Non-residents. Cost includes school bus transportation & admission to Lights on Lake. There will be a stop at Heid’s in Liverpool for dinner (On your Own).

MIRACLE OF 34TH STREET - Join the Village of East Syracuse for the Miracle on 34th Street show on Sunday, December 9th at the CNY Playhouse in Shoppingtown Mall. Show is at 2:00 pm. No bus transportation will be provided. Showtime is at 2:00 pm. We will meet out side showroom starting at 1:30 to receive tickets. Cost is $13 for Village residents and $15.00 for Non-residents.

SENIOR CHRISTMAS PARTY The Village Annual Christmas Party will be held on Thursday, December 20th at Heman St. Apts. Cost is $13 for Village Residents and $15.00 for Non – residents. Includes buffet lunch, entertainment, Prizes for everyone & a surprise visitor.

MOVIE DAY- Senior Movie Day will be held once a month. Cost is $4.00 – includes lunch & a movie. Popcorn & refreshments will be served. The next movie will be shown on Tuesday, October 25th (Oceans 8) and Tuesday, October 30th (Mamma Mia- Here we go again)

SENIOR CARD PARTIES- A pitch tournament will be held at the East Syracuse Municipal building once a month. Cost is $4.00 for Village residents and $5.00 for Non-residents. Includes lunch, snacks & refreshments. The Next dates will be Thursdays, September 27th& October 25th. Call 463-6714 to register.

KEENER SENIORS PROGRAM

Join the East Syracuse Parks & Recreation Dept. and Peace Incorporated for Lunch on

Monday & Wednesdays at Heman Street Apts. Where else can you enjoy a nice meal for a suggested price of $3.00? Program is open to adults 60+ Lunch is served at noon. Call 952 - 0038 to reserve a meal.

Transportation will be provided to Heman Street Apts. for residents of Bennett Manor Apartments . Syracuse Elementary Is played on Mon & Students. Students sing Enjoy Pitch & 31 before lunch Wed at conclusion of songs, make crafts and starting at 10:00 am interact with the senior lunch. Food $en$e is a program of the Food Bank of designed to help individuals and families stretch their food dollars by ordering quality food at low prices. SEASONAL REMINDERS

 Last yard waste pick up (branches, limbs, and garden clippings) for the season is Monday, October 29th. Yard waste will not be picked up again until April 2019. Christmas trees will be picked up through January.

 Trash Collection; Collection for trash will continue to be the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month year round. Stickers are required.

 Garbage; All garbage must be stored in sealed containers and stored at rear of property. Garbage shall be placed to the curb after 4pm the day before pickup.

 Leaves should be raked to the curb for pick up – not in containers and not in the street. This is autumn policy only. Please do not use plastic bags for leaves.

 Driveway Plowing; Operators shall not plow snow from driveways into or across Village streets. Snow storage shall be maintained on resident’s property.

 Building Permits; required for all construction activities including fence, sheds and signage. Please contact the Codes Department with any questions.

 Municipal Code § 732.20; General Prohibition. No one shall keep any unregistered, inoperable, and/or unusable vehicle outdoors.

 The winter parking ban is in effect from November 1st until April 1st. No vehicles are allowed on the street or in a municipal parking lots between the hours of 2 AM through 6 AM. Please avoid parking in streets in severe snowy conditions to allow our DPW to clean our streets as efficiently as possible.

 Please refrain from parking across sidewalks so as not to impede sidewalk plow.

 Your help in keeping Fire Hydrants on your property clear is greatly appreciated and contributes to public safety.
