The building was commissioned in the early 1930s and completed in 1935 to house Hornsey A Council, later known as Haringey Council. The chosen architect was PRESTIGIOUS the -born Reginald Uren, who found inspiration in the form and functionality of modern PAST Scandinavian architecture. As a result, Hornsey Town Hall became one of the earliest and most iconic examples of modernist architecture in Britain. This pioneering design would be recognised in 1981, when the Town Hall was granted Grade II* listed status, making it one of the country’s most culturally and architecturally signifi cant buildings.
