Background:

The Facilities function within the Business Services Centre is responsible for the obtaining and maintaining of Ervia HQ’s and Regional offices, including activities such as ; Security, Reception Services, Spatial Planning, Fleet Management, Cleaning and Building Maintenance. Facilities provide these services to all of Ervia and its group companies; Gas Networks Ireland, Ervia Group and Irish Water, ensuring a consistent and effective facilities service is provided.

The Role:

Reporting to the Energy & Systems Support Manager, the Sustainability/Energy Engineer will support delivery of the Sustainability Strategy & Energy Management for Business Services and also support the wider Ervia Organsiation.

The Sustainability/Energy Engineer will also be responsible for supporting the development of sustainability and energy related policies, standards and targets for Business Services and for reviewing performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Support development of the sustainability strategy for Business Services to be consistent with national policy and regulation across energy management, carbon reduction, climate goals and waste management.  Support and champion progress of the sustainability strategy across all departments and measure and monitor internal sustainability performance;  Support key sustainability and environmental activities, including: o Energy management and mitigation of energy / carbon footprint with higher environmental standards o Ensuring compliance with national and regional Waste Management Policy o Ensuring full knowledge and appreciation of environmental designation  Communicate objectives and initiatives clearly and effectively to internal and external stakeholders  Work closely with Facilities team on energy performance – monitoring metrics and sharing best practices and suggestions for improving energy management across buildings and fleet.  Conduct Energy Reviews and establish baselines, Energy Performance Indicators (EnPIs), objectives, targets and action plans.  Input to audits, inspections and review processes with regards to sustainability.  Collect information about waste stream management and green building practices to inform decision-makers.  Support delivery of annual energy OPEX budgets and identify and manage any risks to budgets.

 Continuously monitor external trends, and propose new ideas and initiatives to maintain leadership in the sustainability arena;  Provide technical or administrative support for sustainability programs or issues;  Develop reports or presentations to communicate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives;  Assess or propose sustainability initiatives, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and acceptance.  Raise awareness and engagement of sustainability by all team members;  Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience required in sustainability/environmental/energy/ management. • Previous sustainability/Energy management responsibilities. • Expert business acumen to understand the impact of decisions to the wider organisation. • Prior experience with systems such as ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management) or ISO 26000 (Sustainability) a plus. • Proficient in MS office applications, particularly Excel, Word, MS Outlook and the use of e- mail. • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to facilitate meetings with senior management and client. • Team player who works well with others in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment. Proven project management experience, with ability to develop and execute plans, manage stakeholder groups and develop stakeholder communication plans, and identify and manage risks and issues. • A proven track record of working in a customer focused environment and the ability to develop and promote effective working relationships with Business Services and the wider organisation. • Ability to act as a role model and is the embodiment of what the organisation stands for. • Ability to adopt new approaches to improve results by transforming organisational culture and systems. • Ability to drive change and continuous improvement by identifying the organisational and cultural changes needed to adapt strategically to changing market demand, technology and internal Initiatives.
