Northeastern University Temp – non-student / Athletic Facilities Staff (2 positions available) Position Summary Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Athletic Facilities and Supervisor of Athletic Facilities, the candidate will perform a wide variety of duties in the daily operations of Matthews Arena and other University owned, rented or leased Athletic Facilities. Individuals may be called to other NU facilities as needed for assistance in setups and/or maintenance. These facilities include: Matthews Arena, Henderson Boathouse, Parsons Athletic Field, Dedham Athletic Field, Marino Center, Cabot Athletic Center and Barletta Natatorium and Carter Playground. This is a part time 27 Hr. per week position, with an opportunity for additional hours based on a business need. AssiGned shift is Friday through Sunday, and is exempt of holidays and University closure. Responsibilities: Responsibilities includes General maintenance and cleaninG, as well as other duties as determined by the Asst.Director/ Facility Supervisor. Primary responsibilities include assistinG with the installation and paintinG of the ice surface, ice maintenance and the repair of dasher boards and Glass as needed. Individuals will be proficient at driving the Zamboni, repairinG ice deficiencies and edging and shaving the ice surface. Individual will be responsible for MonitorinG and loGGinG specified temperature requirements of the ice compressor and report problems and issues as they arise. In addition to beinG responsible for the ice surface, coordinator will be able to perform the installation and removal of basketball floor. Assist in helpinG all facilities operations run smoothly and are in good repair. Specific job function examples: *Snow removal around building including egress doors *Ice Maintenance *Limited PaintinG as required *Repair to equipment as needed *Trash pick-ups *Set, clean, stock, & maintain Varsity Club Room *Assist Contracted cleaner if needed in lower & Upper stands as well as restrooms *Possible assistance in the Installation & removal of portable basketball floor *Locker room Turnover *Close and lockdown building at the end of each scheduled niGht. Qualifications Must have knowledGe of operational and setup requirements for athletic events. Must have General knowledge of various sound systems and scoreboards and ice plant equipment. Must be able to drive a Zamboni. Must have or willinG to obtain a fork lift certification. Should have knowledGe or experience on operatinG light to medium construction equipment; forklifts, lawn mowers, snow blowers and utility vehicles. Must have valid Massachusetts’s driver’s licenses. Must have the ability to effectively interact with people at a variety of levels within and outside the University. Individual must demonstrate initiative and positive workinG attitude and be able to work unsupervised. Candidate, may be asked to work additional hours as required includinG non-traditional University workdays and holidays. Must have some knowledge of OSHA and MSDS standards and NCAA rules. Previous experience workinG at an ice arena, includinG the ability to drive a Zamboni is a requirement of the job. Other information: • Temp - Non-Student status, 27 Hour work week • Non Benefit EliGible • DesiGnated shift is Fri. – Sunday 3:00 pm to 12:30 AM (Hours Potentially Flexible) • Position works closely with other part-time & Work Study supplemental staff • This position requires a CORI & criminal background check. • This position involves weekends • Mandatory overtime is a requirement at certain times of the year • This position is a part of the “Essential Personnel” requirement of the facility division • Salary: $22.00 - $25.00 per hr ***Job description is subject to change based upon the University needs and demands.
