They have also added Nathan Coulter-Nile, Marco Jensen, and Jimmy Neesham to the roster. Though Arjun Tendulkar's inclusion in the team has drawn flak, the youngster has done well in age-group cricket, and Mumbai Indians' gamble might just pay off. 2. : 19.9 crores - After going all out on , Chennai Super Kings settled for . , as a back-up off-spinner and finisher, also works in the CSK setup if they put Moeen out and play a different overseas player. Impact of the Coronavirus Pandemic on Sports

The coronavirus pandemic has affected all areas of life and sports is no exception. The social distancing measures introduced to limit coronavirus's spread have had a significant effect on sporting fixtures. Before coronavirus stopped play, the sports industry's estimated global value was $471 billion (2018). However, the pandemic dealt a financial blow to the sports world. Every part of the sporting value chain has been affected, from athletes, teams, and leagues, to the media that broadcast and cover games. Major events have been either postponed or cancelled. The Tokyo Olympics is a good example. With a great chance of stadiums remaining empty for a long time to come, athlete organisations and people working at sport venues are in for a challenging year ahead. Revenue from broadcasting deals, sponsorships, and match tickets are all drying up.

As many sports' business model is under threat, they need to find a solution to counter COVID-19. The sports ecosystem, comprising of producers, broadcasters, fans, businesses, owners, and players, needs to find new and innovative solutions to reduce the adverse effects of COVID-19. This includes finding ways to engage with fans to ensure safe sports events in the future while maintaining the workforce, creating new operating models and venue strategies. With the vaccinations starting, we hope that the major sporting events like the FIFA World Cup and the Tokyo Olympics begin this year. Some sporting events have already begun, like the X-games and the Handball World Championships. Though the coronavirus changed the sports world in 2020, we have found new ways to hold the sporting event safely, and we all hope that the crowd will return to the stadiums soon.
