Northwest 's premiere student enrichment event, Minds in Motion, was hosted by Shepaug Valley School on Saturday, February 27th. Created in a climate that reminded us all that learning can look like play, the event featured fast-paced, hands-on workshops for students in Grades K-8. Students participated in a wide range of workshops from Robotics to the Brazilian Martial Art of Capoeira, while others came away with finished woodworking projects or sticky fingers from the Wacky World of Waffles.

In the spirit of creating a robust learning community for the young and old alike, parents attended a keynote lecture by MacArthur Fellow, Michael Moschen, and had the option of attending three lectures tackling topics parents and educators often face: teaching children to become good digital citizens, fostering emotional sophistication, and the development of learning excellence in every child.

With 150 students, 90 enrolled adults, 25 vendors, and a delicious food truck, the event was quite a hit!

Thank you to the spectacular Minds in Motion planning team who made this event possible! Pictured (l to r) are Dr. Patricia Cosentino, Superintendent of Schools, with Michelle Frankland, Brooke Faison, Paula Conway, Michelle Manafy and Julie King. All are proud parents of Region 12 students! Congratulations to middle school students Ryan Sarbello, Taryn Crossley, Kiera Koval, and Kaylee Martinez who auditioned and were accepted to perform in the Northern CT Regional Music Festival!
