Aviation Department Traffic Statistics: J. Quayson, J. Cuneo, D.Mesa Growth returned to EWR as passenger traffic grew nearly 6% in August on a 1% increase in seat capacity. Domestic passenger grew 7.4% assisted by a 3.5% seat capacity gain mostly from UA.CO. More importantly, international traffic which had decline four consecutive months by an average of 3.5% gained THE PORT AUTHORITY OF NY & NJ 3.2%. YTD August international traffic is down 1.4%, reflecting the absence of Eva, and Iceland AUGUST 2012 TRAFFIC REPORT Express from the airport. However, the August gains pushed the overall YTD August traffic to 3.4%. With Lot Polish and scheduled to leave in the winter, international traffic growth may slow. Cargo continued to remain weak as tonnage grew by less than 1 percent keeping YTD August level down to 8.6%.
