THE SAN PATRICIOʼS WERE MOSTLY IRISH CATHOLIC IMMIGRANTS THAT HAD SERVED THE US WITH DISTINCTION BUT ULTIMATELY DESERTED FROM THE AMERICAN ARMY DUE TO DISCRIMINATION AND ILL TREATMENT. AFTER THE BATTLE OF CHURUBUSCO 72 MEN WERE CAPTURED AND STOOD TRIAL FOR DESERTION; IN ALL, 50 SAN PATRICIOʼS WERE EXECUTED BY THE U.S. ARMY. THESE MEN HAVE CONTINUED TO BE HONORED AND REVERED AS HEROES IN MEXICO.
