    Pressemelding – 24.06.09 Først i verden med digital kino i hele landet Film & Kino har på vegne av de norske kinoene i dag inngått såkalte VPF-avtaler med de fem Hollywoodstudioene Twentieth Century Fox, United International Pictures (distribusjonsselskap for Paramount Pictures og Universal Pictures), Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International og Warner Bros. Pictures International. Dette sikrer økonomisk støtte fra studioene til digitaliseringen av de norske kinoene. Avtalene markerer startskuddet for den digitale utrullingen, som gjør Norge til det første landet i verden med komplett nasjonal digitalisering av kinoene. VPF (Virtual Print Fee) er en avgift distributørene må betale ved oppsetting av film på kino i en periode fremover. Dette er en del av spleiselaget mellom distributørene, Film & Kino og kinoene som muliggjør den nasjonale digitaliseringen. Det er første gang Hollywoodstudioene inngår en slik avtale på nasjonalt nivå. Med disse avtalene på plass kan Film & Kino nå gjennomføre anbud på tjenester som er nødvendig for å kunne starte utrullingen som planlagt i fjerde kvartal 2009. - Dette er en historisk dag for kinobransjen, sier Jørgen Stensland som er fagdirektør i bransjeorganisasjonen Film & Kino og ansvarlig for digitaliseringen. Han forteller at studioene har forpliktet seg til å levere filmer digitalt i Norge. Med digitaliseringen kan kinoene også tilby den nye generasjonen med 3D-filmer som kommer for fullt. - Vi gleder oss til å samarbeide med studioene om den nye hverdagen for kinoene og deres publikum, sier Stensland. Film & Kinos mål om å sikre publikum aktuell film har fått ny aktualitet ved at alle kinoer kan vise samme film likt i tid og med samme høye kvalitet.
